If you enjoy treating your loved one like royalty, then there’s simply no better romantic retreat than a stay in The Prince’s Carriage, looking out to the breathtaking Bodiam Castle and surrounded by 200 acres of scenic Sussex farmland and orchards… so it’s perfect if you feel like bringing the dog along, too!
In a previous life, the 1894 carriage belonged to a fairground owner who used it as his home as the show toured the West Country. In the 21st century this handsome holiday home really must be seen to be truly appreciated, with so much intricate detail to luxuriate in throughout, and an elegant sense of regal style that befits its new name, The Prince’s Carriage.
Step inside and marvel at the stunning mahogany woodwork, hand-painted detailing and crystal ornate mirrors all around you. Discover a cosy lounge area, complete with vintage tiled fireplace and a woodburner-effect fire, the perfect place to warm your toes by evening!
While away your holiday hours with plenty of cosy conversation, or take advantage of the TV, DVD and CD players to set the perfect mood. You’ll also find plenty of books thoughtfully provided.
When it’s finally time for a sound night’s sleep, you’ll find a beautiful bedroom at the other end of the carriage, complete with painted woodwork and a cosy, raised double bed dressed in fresh Irish linen.
The jewel in the carriage’s crown is the raised, sun-dappled decked area just outside, featuring a flower-covered veranda, cosy chairs and a wooden table… the perfect place to enjoy a glass or two of something sparkling as you take in the stunning views of Bodiam Castle and the lush apple orchards! Al-fresco dining is a real treat here too, with a charcoal barbecue aching to be fired up.
The site features a friendly café, The Hub – ideal if you don’t really fancy cooking for yourself while you’re on holiday – along with contemporary, well-equipped kitchen and bathroom facilities in separate adjacent buildings. The pretty kitchen area features a railway carriage-style table that overlooks the fields, so you won’t miss out on a moment of the panoramic views waiting to captivate your attention during your stay!
