Ideal for relaxed rural breaks with loved ones and four-legged friends alike, Orchard Cottage is a welcoming retreat set in a glorious half-acre garden, in the ancient Devon village of Swimbridge.

Over four centuries old, the Grade II-listed cottage boasts many carefully-preserved original features, including beamed ceilings and an inglenook fireplace. Yet you’ll also find plenty of modern conveniences that make holiday life a breeze.

The large, light-filled kitchen/diner offers a perfect setting to catch up all together, with plenty of sleek appliances to help you rustle up country feasts galore (although if you’d like to put your feet up while someone else does the catering, just ask!)

Cradle your digestifs in the ridiculously comfortable and characterful lounge, with its cosy seating and wood-burner-effect electric fire – there’s also a Smart TV if you need a little extra entertainment.

On balmy summer evenings, you might prefer a sizzling supper out on the patio instead, followed by a hearty round of table football in the games room or a stargazing dip in the hot tub… bliss. There’s plenty of lawn space for the kids and dogs to burn off excess energy before bedtime, too.

When that time finally rolls around, you’ll get to choose from five elegant bedrooms. One double room is on the ground floor – with beautiful garden views – for added convenience. The master kingsize room comes with its own en-suite facilities, and there’s a mix of bunk, twin, and double rooms to suit groups of all shapes and sizes.

What to do after that sound night’s sleep? Freshen up in the generous family bathroom (two separate WCs also ensure there’ll be no crossed-legged queues) then ease into the day over coffee and a hearty, home-cooked breakfast.
