Owners Declan and Catriona describe their beloved Oaklane Glamping as “a little slice of heaven overlooking Kenmare Bay.” Once you’ve arrived, you’re sure to agree wholeheartedly!
Named as one of Europe’s most beautiful towns, Kenmare (known as “head of the sea” in Viking times) is rich in both unspoilt natural beauty and friendly hospitality, with soaring mountain vistas, isolated beaches, winding hiking trails, and famed local pubs to discover.
Oaklane Glamping is an ideal bolthole from which to explore everything south-west Ireland has to offer… if you can tear yourselves away, that is.
Secluded on the outskirts of the town, atop a lush green field dotted with grazing sheep, are two bespoke cabins, Dairach (Oak) and Saileach (Willow). Both showcase jaw-dropping views of the shimmering bay and MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, Ireland’s highest mountain range.
In designing their cabins, Declan and Catriona’s mission was to create a feeling of being at one with the Great Outdoors, with all the cosiness that comes from being snuggled up inside. As such, each cabin is fully glazed at the front, affording the most spectacular sunrise views from your sumptuously-dressed double bed.
Toasty insulation will warm the coolest evenings, while your private patio is an ideal spot for lazing on sunny afternoons, chilled glass of wine in hand (since Kenmare enjoys a protected position close to the Gulf Stream, warm days are plentiful here). Don’t worry if you’re reluctant to head back inside, as there’s a barbecue and firepit for sunset suppers and stargazing later on.
Having worked in luxury hospitality for over 30 years, Catriona knows a thing or two about making guests comfortable. She and Declan have included plenty of thoughtful touches, including a Nespresso machine, complimentary toiletries, and a treat-packed hamper to welcome you to your cabin.

“Fabulous glamping cabin in the most beautiful location. The view we woke up to each morning was stunning, Catriona the host left some beautiful items for breakfast and snacks. Everything is provided – lovely toiletries, hairdryer and it has the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. So many gorgeous places to visit locally and it’s lovely walk into the town. Can’t wait to return. Everything about the weekend was perfect.”
“Huge thanks to Catriona for her warm and friendly welcome to her wonderful glamping pods. Without doubt one of the best breaks we ever had, we loved waking up to the spectacular views of Kenmare bay, the beautiful walks and trails and the wonderful food in Davitt’s and the pints in the many pubs in Kenmare. Catriona has thought of everything to try and make it a home away from home….so relaxing. We WILL be back soon.”
