Mount Nebo Railway Carriage is ‘stationed’ just 45 minutes from Brisbane City, in six acres of beautiful, private gardens that border Boombana National Park.
The adults-only, pet-free escape hails from the 1920’s and has since been lovingly restored to provide blissfully cosy accommodation for two (a charming chalet, also secluded on the grounds, sleeps up to three guests).
Full self-contained facilities include a comfy queen bed and en-suite bathroom, and a kitchen with an electric cooktop and microwave – though there’s a gas barbecue out on the covered veranda that’s ideal for sizzling sunset suppers!
If you’re staying out for a little longer, there’s a sumptuous wood-fire barbecue nestled by the gardens’ scenic dam, for welcoming the stars in style.
With everything you need on hand, you could be forgiven for doing nothing but enjoying those magnificent gardens, with picnic snacks, a book, and glass of wine for company. For those in the mood for a longer stroll, there are plenty of intriguing trails in the surrounding National Park… if you time your visit right, you could catch a glimpse of some cute wallabies.
There’s a ‘Café in the Mountains’ just 50 metres away, too, while Mount Glorious is a mere 15-minute drive from the carriage – so however you choose to spend your time, getting bored simply won’t be an option!
