Pristine and white-walled, Milvil Art Deco B&B cuts an elegant dash on its peaceful, tree-lined residential road in Lee-on-the-Solent, a mere 10-minute stroll away from the seaside.

The building dates back to the 1920s, so owners Steve and Angela have personally styled each of the four double bedrooms (there’s also a self-contained apartment for longer stays) with a sophisticated Art Deco theme that exudes luxury and glamour.

Each en-suite room is named after an English Art Deco furniture designer, and you’ll spot plenty of period pieces – not to mention exceedingly tasteful décor! – throughout, for a feeling of travelling gently back in time.

So, which room will you choose? The Maurice Room is a large, light-filled haven at the front of the house, with a superking or twin beds and plenty of plush, soft-toned furniture. The Heal’s Room, also at the front, boasts a kingsize bed and beautiful views of the garden.

Slightly more compact, the Epstein and Joel Rooms are situated at the back of the house, both featuring a kingsize bed and super-chic styling.

Whichever room you opt for, you’ll find your opulent en-suite equipped with a piping hot power-shower and indulgent toiletries, along with White Company towels and complimentary bathrobes. You’ll also have a Smart TV and complimentary Wi-Fi for in-room entertainment.

Complimentary tea or coffee will be served on your arrival, and if the sun is shining you can wander out to the furnished garden to savour it against a tranquil backdrop of birdsong and whispering trees.

Included in the room rate, a plentiful breakfast is served each morning, including fresh pastries, toast and locally-made preserves in vintage glass pots, succulent full English breakfasts, freshly-made porridge, and smoked salmon with spinach… whatever takes your fancy!

If you’re staying for a longer period, the deluxe self-catering apartment sleeps up to two guests in a kingsize bed, with a full kitchen (including a high-end Smeg induction hob), a Smart TV, and toasty underfloor heating.

Prefer eating out? The High Street, peppered with independent shops, restaurants, and bars, is just 10 minutes away on foot. There’s plenty to see and do in the local area, too, including Gosport’s fascinating museums for history and culture, and Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve for long, leisurely walks.

Take a ferry trip to Portsmouth and visit the Historic Dockyard, or head to the local airport and take flight in a Spitfire – you could even arrange a flying lesson, if you’re feeling brave! – the choice is yours.

Minimum 2-night stay. Pets and children under 12 are not permitted to stay. Smoking is permitted in the garden only. The room rate includes breakfast, but if this is not required a reduced rate can be agreed accordingly.
