It would be hard to guess that Mākoha PurePod is a mere 10-minute drive away from the bustling, historic town of Kerikeri, on New Zealand’s magnificent North Island.
Why? The sumptuous, glass-crafted retreat is nestled within native bush that’s protected under a Queen Elizabeth II covenant, as a refuge for some of the country’s rarest and most beautiful ecosystems.
Elevated amongst whispering Kauri trees and abundant, chattering birdlife, this is a dream-like sanctuary from civilisation and the perfect setting in which to truly unwind from everyday life.
Mākoha is a Maori word that means “gentle and tranquil” and that’s exactly the blissful atmosphere you can expect from your gleaming PurePod, following a mesmerising 10-15-minute stroll through native bush and trees.
(Keep your eyes peeled for an incredible array of birdlife – including fantails, kiwis, and kingfishers to name just a few – on your way!)
Nestled among the tree canopy itself, once you’ve settled in to your PurePod, you’ll feel as though you’re floating amongst the clouds; the rest of civilisation far, far away.
Your only soundtrack will be the meandering river and uplifting birdsong, occasionally peppered by the distant hum of a nearby plane and your own deep, laughter-fuelled conversations: the kind you rarely find time for back home.

“Thank you very much for my fabulous stay. It’s been a pleasure to stay. The location is so beautiful, native bush and native birds. The fantails are little characters! It’s extremely relaxing to listen to the bird chorus. I have a little adventure every time I would walk back and forth to the carpark. I have to say this location is up there with my favourite. The food was super, the steak and cheesecake were my favourite! Thank you again for providing the food.” Matt
