The oldest house in Brighton, Looking Glass Cottage was once an unassuming 16th century fisherman’s cottage. These days it’s a boutique ‘wow-factor’ retreat, filled with Alice in Wonderland-themed delights!

Rather brilliantly, the cottage is perfectly situated for instant access to everything bustling Brighton has to offer. You can reach the finest part of the seafront in less than a minute, and the shops, bars, and restaurants that characterise the famous Lanes are practically on the doorstep.

Yet once you’ve arrived, you might find you don’t want to leave!

Why? The attention to detail is truly breath-taking; a heady mix of Victorian glamour and quirky accessories that pay homage to Lewis Carroll’s classic tale. Think pocket-watch doorknobs, teacup lamps, and vintage playing-card wallpaper – not to mention a mirrored ‘looking glass’ ceiling in the magnificent Mad Hatter lounge.

Flamingo Dreams (twin or double) boasts quilted ceilings and a Victorian corner sink – oh, and upside-down flamingo wallpaper!

The Looking Glass bedroom (twin or double) is dainty and delightful, with a silky ceiling and vintage looking-glasses adorning the walls. Meanwhile, the elegant White Rose Boudoir (double) sports vintage floral wallpaper and a sparkling mirrored ceiling.

Two more guests can sleep on the stylish silver-leather sofa beds in the lounge, to accommodate eight lucky guests in total. You’ll also get to freshen up in the grand wetroom, with its two showers, marble washstand, and toasty underfloor heating.

If you’re staying as a hen party group, the friendly owner is happy to arrange a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party delivered right to your door, or recommend myriad venues to keep you entertained, from cocktail-making classes to burlesque cabaret!

You could even arrange for a visiting hairdresser to come and create gorgeous new looks for your incredible night out on the Brighton tiles, as you chat and sip champagne… complete with recommendations for the best ‘morning after’ breakfast spots.

Things to note

Small, well-behaved pets are welcome by request. A cot can be provided, please bring baby bedding. Regrettably, the house is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility. Please note there is no dining room, but there are plenty of excellent restaurants on the doorstep! Parking is available in the nearby multi-storey car park.
