Blissfully secluded from the world’s hustle and bustle, Little Poro (poro means “reindeer” in Finnish) is an enchanting Scandinavian-style sanctuary for two, filled with sensory delights.

Nestled in an ancient apple orchard close to Exmoor, owner Val has seen to it that every aspect of your journey is as magical as it can possibly be… right from the moment you make your approach through the beautiful woodland pathway.

When you reach Little Poro, tucked away at the end of orchard, you’ll feel as though you’ve entered a truly magical space, strewn with accessories from Val’s own visits to Scandinavia.

Among these are an antler lamp direct from Lapland, butter-soft Icelandic sheepskin rugs, and tealight holders crafted from sustainable Arctic wood.

And although you’ll have a sleek modern kitchen inside, there’s also a glorious al fresco version, complete with a gas pizza oven and a gas barbecue, festooned with soft fairy lights. Just pluck some aromatic herbs from the garden, and you’re all set for spectacular feasts.

Could life get any more luxurious? Well… with a Swedish hot tub to help you welcome the stars in that vast night sky, and a cosy A-frame firepit shelter to toast gooey marshmallows in, as you get lost in romantic, giggle-fuelled conversation, the answer would have to be yes!

If you’ve arrived during the autumn, you can learn how to press apples and make your own juice in the on-site cider house. At other times, the house is a gorgeous ‘snug’ for you to relax in; home to a mini-library, games, and a selection of DVDs to huddle up with.

What the guests of Little Poro say

“Stop thinking about it and just book! Little Poro is a true gem. From start to finish Val couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful with local places to visit. It’s a shame there was no availability for the full 5 days we were in Devon. Everything about Little Poro is magical from the walk through the gardens to the space and tranquility of the surroundings. From the time of booking to arrival Val had built an outdoor kitchen area which absolutely made the stay just perfect. Everything is nicely spaced out and so quiet and dark, the stars at night from the hot tub or the fire pit were just amazing. Little Poro has been perfectly thought out and has absolutely everything you need, even Tilly and Henry were around to say hello most days. We could not fault a single thing and will return to this little piece of heaven”

“Absolutely lovely – even with the rain there was lots to keep us occupied & we were made to feel very welcome. Little Poro is an absolutely gorgeous property that feels like a secret hideaway.”

“Little Poro is a little oasis of tranquility. It’s like a secret garden. If you want middle of nowhere, to be alone and private then this is your place. With spectacular views across the fields for as the eye can see, it’s a little piece of beautiful.”
