If you love getting away from it all but prefer to keep off the beaten track, Lee Wick Farm is waiting for you. This petite yet pretty site in the north Essex countryside offers a variety of cute, cosy, and rather unusual accommodation on a working potato farm!
If you’ve never been glamping before, Lee Wick offers a great opportunity to do it in style in one of its three MegaPods.
Sleeping two adults and two children, these arched cabins have everything you need for your stay, all wrapped up in a neat, wooden package.
Your MegaPod enters into a small but practical living area. A comfy corner sofa doubles up as a bed for the kids, and a dining table is perfect for all those meals you’ll whip up in the kitchen area. Forget campfire cooking – here you have a toaster, kettle, fridge, microwave and sink for simple self-catering. At the back of the MegaPod, you’ll find a double bed – all you need is your own bedding and towels.
Forget communal shower blocks when you stay in a MegaPod; at Pod 1, you’ll find your own solar-powered shower shed, and Pods 2 and 3 come with a shower wet room inside – no more stumbling around a field in the middle of the night! Outside is a large deck for making the most of the fresh country air. Wooden furniture and a BBQ make for delicious alfresco dining, and your own private fire pit is handy if things get a little nippy – did someone say “Marshmallows”…?
If you want something a little spacious (and even more unusual), how about a stay in one of Lee Wick’s CargoPods? These former shipping containers have been given a new lease of life as glamping homes!
Again sleeping two adults and two children, the CargoPods offer all the facilities of the MegaPod, but with the added luxury of a little more space. And in this case, Mum and Dad can enjoy their own separate bedroom!

More information
The Purple CargoPod is located in its own orchard, so there’s plenty of outdoor space to run and play, and the Green CargoPod is situated in its own private paddock, with a large decked area perfect for sunbathing.
For a small additional fee, each CargoPod has the luxury of its own log-fired hot tub on the decking. How’s that for R&R in the country?
Experience one of Lee Wick Farm’s brand new three Armadillas, each sleeping two adults. These unique structures are situated close to the livery yard and are very luxurious – akin to a hotel room, but in a field!
Relax and unwind in your own private log-fired hot tub, and enjoy some real home comforts and touches, such as cosy underfloor heating, mood lighting and Bluetooth sound systems.
Each Armadilla has a small kitchen area and outdoor BBQ, along with a crackling fire pit – the perfect place to star gaze and dine al fresco with a cold drink in hand after a busy day.
You can also opt to stay in Lee Wick’s luxurious Cart Lodge or Stable Cottage. These two converted farm buildings have both been rated ‘4-star’ by Visit England, and also have an M2 mobility rating, making them great choices for guests with accessibility needs.
Perfect for groups, Cart Lodge sleeps up to twelve in beautiful accommodation, where care has been taken to keep a number of the building’s original features in place. It also has its own courtyard garden and views of the sea. Stable Cottage sits beside the paddocks, where you can see Lee Wick’s horses graze, as well as views of the estuary. All on one level, Stable Cottage sleeps five between a family room and twin room, and an extra two on a sofa-bed – great for larger families.
You’re also welcome to bring your own home to Lee Wick Farm; the site offers five pitches for touring caravans, two of which have electric hook-up.
Guests are free to walk or cycle around Lee Wick Farm during their stay, and if you’re a keen angler, you’re welcome to fish in the reservoir too. And don’t miss the chance of a free pass to the neighbouring nature reserve, where you might see little egrets, barn owls or even a marsh harrier.
Lee Wick Farm itself lies just south of St Osyth, a small village to the west of Clacton. You’re well placed for the beach (not to mention fresh oysters), as well as the countryside of north Essex and Suffolk. Visit historic Colchester with its famous castle and zoo, enjoy a drink on the quay at charming Wivenhoe, or head to Brightlingsea for fish and chips at Johnnie Macs. Further north is the popular Suffolk Heritage Coast, home to Aldeborough and Southwold.
So, whether you’re after glamping chic or luxury indulgence, seaside or countryside, peace and quiet or fun-filled days, you can guarantee it all at Lee Wick Farm.
