  • Minimum stay: 3 nights

With its immaculate village green and chocolate-box cottages, Langwathby is a picturesque Cumbrian village that evokes a gentle feeling of timelessness.

Secluded on the A686 – named as one of the ten most scenic roads in the world – the village offers an ideal setting for weary souls in need of a fresh escape from hectic everyday life.

You’ll also have the chance to stay in a living piece of history: a charming Victorian railway cottage at Langwathby Station; part of the mesmerising Settle to Carlisle line that travels through the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines.

Sleeping up to six guests in three bedrooms, you can watch nostalgic steam trains whistle their way through the station on lazy summer days… if you’re lucky, you might even catch sight of the Flying Scotsman itself!

You’ll find the beautifully-renovated cottage itself styled and decorated in homage to this iconic locomotive: with authentic signage, close-up photography and assorted memorabilia to inspire wistful, fascinated smiles.

Amongst other pieces, these include an ingenious Scotsman cuckoo-clock and an ancient ticket-machine… all set alongside high-quality furnishings, glistening chandeliers, and sleek mod-cons for a true first-class stay.

You’ll find the welcoming lounge area furnished with cosy sofas and a log-burning stove; perfect for unwinding with a tipple after a long day exploring the local area. The Smart TV even comes complete with streaming services, to help keep you entertained in-between passing trains.
