La Lanna is a unique and luxurious Thai resort, surrounded by lush tropical nature in Mae On Valley, on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. In this private and tranquil space, time slows down as if by magic, while everyday cares drift away on the gentle breeze.
The resort is named in honour the Kingdom of Lanna (or “Kingdom of a Million Rice Fields”) which flourished in northern Thailand from the 13th to 18th centuries. This offers a sense of gentle, age-old tradition, which is perfectly reflected in the resort’s architecture, design and styling.
There are seven retreats to choose from, with flexible sleeping arrangements to sleep couples and families alike. Nestled across the tropical gardens, each retreat boasts locally-woven textiles and hand-carved teak furniture, for a characterful and authentic atmosphere that feels instantly welcoming.
Each retreat boasts individual elements that make it truly unique, such as a rooftop hot tub for stargazing, or the ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ villa’s sparkling jewel: a remote-controlled bed that can glide out onto the scenic terrace at the touch of a button!
You could also choose to bed down in a vintage trailer, styled with honey-coloured wood for a homely feeling of warmth. Perfect for two (a child’s bed can also be added on request), you’ll be deliciously isolated from the rest of the resort by a fence and tall, whispering trees… an ideal backdrop for unwinding in the hot tub.
Take a walk by the resort’s meandering Mae Lai stream, perhaps after easing into the day with some yoga stretches outside. There is no on-site spa, perhaps because the entire resort has a blissful, rejuvenating spa-like feel all in itself!
What will you do for meals? There’s a friendly coffee shop on site serving delicious breakfasts, including traditional khao soi and rice soup alongside staples like toast and fruit. It’s the perfect spot if you need to fuel up for energetic local activities, such as a jungle trek or exploring the nearby villages.
