Originally constructed in 1794, Kymin Round House was once a purpose-built, all-weather picnic spot for a local club.

These days, the circular castellated building is an irresistibly cosy and romantic retreat for a couple who want to feel like they’re holidaying in their very own castle!

Elevated at the top of a hill known as the Kymin, the views are seriously spectacular.  Not only can you cast your gaze over the Wye Valley from just about every direction, but on a clear day you might even catch a glimpse of Pen y Fan – or, the highest point of the Brecon Beacons.

You’ll find the retreat itself sumptuously furnished in classic Georgian style, to make you feel as though you’ve travelled gently back in time.  Mesmerising original features include ornamental fireplaces, and there are plenty of soft fabrics and warming colours to make you feel at home.  Meanwhile, kitchen and bathroom facilities are sleek and contemporary.

Surrounded by woods and parkland, there’s plenty of scope for you to emulate that 18th century picnic club, with plenty of intriguing walking trails to explore (including Offa’s Dyke on your doorstep!)  Teeming with nature, this is also a wonderful setting to observe wildlife, with tawny owls, badgers, and many species of bird and bat all regular visitors.
