Beautifully positioned between Falmouth Bay and the Lizard Peninsula, the shimmering Helford River is one of Cornwall’s most treasured and unspoilt locations.
At the river’s head lies the enchanting village of Gweek, where husband-and-wife team Patrick and Maddie Spink moved in 2014. The fresh surroundings captured their hearts so much, that they set about creating a sumptuous treehouse retreat in the fields and woodlands above their family home.
Thanks to a friendly team of local tradespeople, close friends, and family, Skapya and Kalmynsi (Cornish words for “escape” and “calm” respectively) were then brought mesmerisingly to life.
Crafted from the finest cedar wood to a bespoke crescent-shaped design, and set 30 metres apart for privacy, both treehouses are bursting with comforts that will elevate your tree-scape to brand-new levels of luxury!
Perfect for romantic couples, Skapya boasts a private balcony, set amongst a whispering canopy of mature oak, beech, and ash trees. Here you can savour morning coffee with the neighbouring birds, and evening fizz to a backdrop of soft owl’s hoots.
Inside awaits clean-lined Nordic-inspired interiors that include a dreamy Ekol log burner, and a fabulous drenching rainfall shower with locally hand-made organic toiletries, to bring a refreshing start to your day.
Entertainment-wise, you’ll have a Smart TV with superfast broadband and Wi-Fi, and a sleek Bluetooth turntable for stylish record-playing. Meanwhile, a sound night’s sleep is all but guaranteed in the downy double bed, dressed in fine linen.

More information
Spend lazy evenings in your very own ‘secret’ clearing next to an ancient bluebell wood. Here you’ll find a warming firepit to toast marshmallows around, and a log-fired Dutch Loveseat hot tub to stargaze from.
Kalmynsi, meanwhile, is a dog-friendly treehouse that’s every bit as elegant as Skapya, with the same self-contained facilities and Scandi-style design. It also comes with its very own private garden named ‘Valley View’ – the perfect spot to take in those blissful rural views after a busy day’s sightseeing – and its very own outdoor seating area with a log fired hot tub and chiminea.
Crack open the bottle of Prosecco from your indulgent welcome hamper and relax on the designer sofa (or the Big Bertha beanbag, whichever takes your fancy!) After an energising shower, wrap yourselves in the fluffy robes provided and say hello to the resident bird life out on your private balcony.
Of course, you’ll also have your own al fresco lounging area, complete with a soft-glowing firepit and outdoor ‘sheepskin’ blankets, to help you relax in scenic comfort.
Regardless of which treehouse you’ve opted for, you’ll have three acres of field, not to mention an acre of woodland newly created by Patrick and Maddie, to explore… as well as a myriad of amazing countryside walks.
Wander to the local pub and café, or take a romantic boat trip along the river (you can kayak or paddle-board if you prefer something a little more strenuous!)
Gweek is also home to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary; a magical way to spend some time before returning to your very own sanctuary at Kosel Treehouses.
Things to note
Check in at 3pm, check out by 10am. Please note the hot tub is heated by a log fire. Depending on the ambient temperature it can take 1-2 hrs to heat the water.
