An hour away from bustling Wellington, New Zealand’s sweeping Kāpiti Coast is rich in wild and unspoilt natural beauty, offering a dreamlike setting for a truly unforgettable romantic escape.

Nestled in a ‘secret’ location amongst whispering olive trees and grapevines, Kokomea PurePod soars magnificently above the coast, with spectacular views out to Kāpiti Island Nature Reserve… not to mention the enormous, star-filled sky above.

And since the luxurious eco-pod is expertly crafted from gleaming glass (including the roof!), you won’t have to miss a single moment of those awe-inspiring sunsets, or nature’s fascinating, ever-changing display.

Your journey begins with a scenic coastal drive, and then a mesmerising bush-walk through ‘The Gully’ – peppered with native trees and a magical spring-fed stream – to reach your private, glistening PurePod.

Here you can breathe out and relax at last, with your only neighbours being the native birds that fly from Kāpiti Island, over the rolling hills beyond. In fact, why not pour a welcome glass of wine and watch them from the comfort of your peaceful deck?

Inside and out, you’ll find the adults-only PurePod equipped with every luxurious holiday facility you could wish for, from an invigorating shower-with-a-view, to a gas cooktop and barbecue that let you decide just where you’ll prepare those romantic suppers.

Bring your own supplies, or indulge your tastebuds with a sumptuous dinner and breakfast hamper (available to pre-order on booking), packed with tempting fare direct from the Kāpiti region. Think pungent farm cheeses and fresh-baked bread, locally-reared lamb with gourmet potatoes, and home-made granola with stewed orchard fruit.

When the day is finally done, you can look forward to curling up in the downy double bed, then waking to a gentle morning montage of nature through those incredible glass doors. Simply slide them back to usher the outside in… oh, and why not treat yourselves to a mug of freshly-brewed coffee, too?

What you do next is your choice. Visit the west coast beaches, learn more about the beautiful surroundings through an interactive talk with a local expert and savour a traditional Kawa Kawa tea ceremony by the river… complete with a flax (harakeke) waving demonstration, weather permitting.

(You could always choose to do nothing but curl up with a good book and a glass of wine out on your deck, of course!)

Kokomea means “sunset glow” in Te Reo Māori, and as you end another glorious day in the arms of your PurePod, watching the blazing sun begin its slow descent over the coast, you’re sure to feel there’s no lovelier description.
