The setting for this luxurious treehouse is Kinlochlaich House Gardens on the Appin Hills, a large, walled 17th century garden locally renowned for its beautiful array of plants and natural foliage. You’re guaranteed the most amazing panoramic views, coupled with abundant friendly wildlife, clean air and pure water the Scottish Highlands are famous for…what could be better? And as Kinlochlaich House boasts a Green Tourism Award, you can rest easy that you’re staying in a truly beautiful location with loving care for the local environment built right in.
The treehouse blends in perfectly with its historic and natureful surroundings, with lime rendered walls, a locally-sourced slate roof and arched windows for a look and feel that’s steeped in romantic history. Its unique octagonal shape has been built from Scottish oak, with innovative use of a whole oak tree through the centre to support the roof!
Step inside the house and discover light, airy and spacious living. The living area includes a kitchen with dining table and a generous lounge area for chatting and sharing holiday stories along with a warming snifter of Scotch whisky. A beautiful gallery area above can be made into a children’s sleeping area, or a simple viewing platform for you to appreciate the intricate interior detailing all around you. Further along, you’ll find a cosily homely double bedroom and bathroom.
The decking outside is the perfect place to appreciate the private woodland views and canopy of trees, with gently rustling leaves and joy-filled birdsong as your soothing soundtrack while you breathe in fresh, clear air. Rural escapes surely don’t get more magical than this?

Appin is close to Glencoe, renowned for its breathtaking mountain scenery and outdoor adventure. For history buffs, how about a trip to the romantic Castle Stalker, where you can imagine yourself as fairytale royalty for a day?
Oban, the nearest large town and the seafood capital of Scotland (meaning the fish and chips are legendary!), is well-known for its whisky distillery – why not take a guided tour, followed by some souvenir-shopping? More adventurous types will enjoy a trip to Fort William, the outdoor capital of the UK situated at the foot of Ben Nevis, perfect for a challenging hike.

“My wife and I stayed in the Treehouse for 5 days in
early November. From the first moment when driving up to the Treehouse we were
gobsmacked by Treehouse. The photographs do not do the Treehouse justice it is
bigger then we imagined and was very well equipped with everything you need for
a relaxing break. The location is great with easy drives to Oban, Fort William,
Glencoe, Mallaig and beyond. There are other places to see close at hand,
Stalker Castle (used in the filming of Monty Python and the Holy Grail), Port
Appin with ferry to Lismore. We had a really wonderful break and will return in
the near future.”
“The Treehouse is a fantastic wee, characterful house in a
beautiful location. Apart from the peace and quiet it’s also ideally located
for exploring Glencoe, water sports in Oban and Ballachulish or visiting
Lismore or even Mull. I would recommend it to anyone who likes getting
outdoors.”
“We had a great honeymoon stay at the treehouse. We
originally booked it as we wanted somewhere a little different to stay and
liked the style of the house, however we also found the the location near to
Oban and Ben Nevis was excellent for day trips. The house itself was lovely and
cosy with underfloor heating and a wood burner. There was plenty of kitchen
equipment for making hearty meals.”
