Five-star luxury awaits at the Jackdaw Quarry Lodges – two totally unique, self-catered, eco-friendly hideaways built on the limestone cliff edges of Lancashire’s Jackdaw Quarry and clear blue water of the quarry lake.  The ideal escape for families or couples, these beautifully crafted lodges are bursting with the love, care and attention to detail that has clearly gone into them.

Each has been designed to blend in with the stunning natural surroundings as well as offering distinctive, contemporary architecture.  Both lodges are pet friendly, so the whole family can holiday together, and with mobility ramps, extra-wide doorways and a host of accessibility equipment available, they’re the ideal choice for guests with limited mobility.

To top it off, Jackdaw Quarry Lodges couldn’t be set in a more perfect location. Based on the edge of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, you can indulge in gorgeous views of both national treasures, as well as views out across to Morecambe Bay.

Both lodges  sleep six in total, and have been finished to the same high standards of luxury.  Whether you stay in Jackdaw Quarry Lodge or Jackdaw Quarry Heights, you can look forward to panoramic views of the crystal-clear lake and countryside beyond.

Jackdaw Quarry Lodge has clearly been built with nature in mind, and the giveaway might be the turf-topped roof!  As you enter the beautiful, stone-tiled entrance hall, you’ll quickly get a sense of the treat that awaits.  Leading through into the open-plan, high-ceilinged living area, prepare to be blown away by the view – best enjoyed from the first of your two private balconies.

On the ground floor, you’ll also find a double bedroom and shower room opposite, while downstairs, two more spacious bedrooms can be found.  The first offers a sumptuous super king-size bed (but can also be arranged as a twin room), while the second has a romantic king-size sleigh bed for peaceful dreaming.  Both bedrooms share a second bathroom with a full-size bath and shower, and have sliding doors out to the lower balcony.  Here, you’ll find a barbecue and grill for summertime sizzling, and your own 7-person hot tub – surely the most relaxing way to enjoy those views…

More information

Jackdaw Quarry Heights is found 100 yards further on at the top of the Quarry, perched a little higher up from Jackdaw Quarry Lodge.  Spacious, modern, and oh-so-welcoming, it’s also set over two levels.  The ground floor is where you’ll find a contemporary open-plan living area, again boasting unbeatable views through bi-fold doors and access onto a super-sized cedar deck looking out over the Quarry.  Enjoy alfresco dining here or relax back in a comfortable lounger to watch the sun as it sets.  And guests to Jackdaw Quarry Heights haven’t been left out – it, too, has its own 7-person hot tub for maximum indulgence!

Again, an accessible bedroom and shower room are found on the ground floor, with the remaining two bedrooms upstairs.  The Master bedroom is a real treat for couples, with its magnificent solid oak four-poster super-king sized bed and en-suite bathroom.  The final bedroom also offers a super-king sized bed, but also capable of being split into two comfortable twin beds – ideal for children!  Both bedrooms lead out to the upper balcony, where you can enjoy the best views of Morecambe Bay and views out across the Lakeland fells and Yorkshire Dales.

Both lodges have been finished with your comfort in mind, with extra touches including underfloor heating and fans in each room.  Each living area and bedroom also boasts a Smart TV with DVD player, complete with the Sky Movies and Sports package (Jackdaw Quarry Lodge) and BT TV (Jackdaw Quarry Heights), Netflix, and a Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 to keep everyone entertained!

There’s surely no chance of being bored in this fabulous location however.  Jackdaw Quarry is also home to one of the UK’s best scuba diving centres, so brush up your diving skills, open water swimming, or start them from scratch!  You also have the stunning Lake District on your doorstep, with such gems as Beatrix Potter’s house and Grasmere (don’t forget to stop for fresh gingerbread!).  The Pennine Way is also in easy reach – the perfect way to explore those beautiful Yorkshire Dales, before stepping back in time at the legendary Sizergh Castle or Muncaster Castle.

In all, there really isn’t much the Jackdaw Quarry Lodges don’t offer…why don’t you see for yourself?

Things to note

Pets are welcome at £20 per dog per stay, there is a £50 surcharge for hot tub use, there is good mobility access into both units with ramp.  Please note that any large group requirements wanting both lodges should be discussed with the owner for suitability.

What the guests of Jackdaw Quarry Lodges say

“We’ve just come away from a week spent at Jackdaw Quarry Lodge. We had
such a lovely week, the lodge is beautiful and Allison and Graeme have
really thought of everything and made it feel very much like home.
Within the information pack kindly sent to us by Graeme was a map and
some information on Bay View, Bolton le Sands looking out across
Morecambe Bay. We decided to visit Bay View on our first day as it
sounded like a good place to take our two labradoodles for a walk and
it’s only a 5-10 mins drive from the lodge. We were not quite prepared
for just how lovely it is (and we have an abundance of beaches back at
home in North Norfolk and Suffolk so we are not easily impressed). In
fact we loved it so much we went back almost every day. Vast open marsh
land at first and after a 10 minute walk across the marsh you stumble
across a huge sandy beach as far as the eye can see (we never saw the
tide in). Ella & Gertie loved it, they could tear around and have a
splash in the water on the marsh land, they had great fun. You’ll
definitely want wellies and go prepared with a rain mac as we got caught
out twice! There are a few parking spaces right at the entrance, we
never struggled to get a space and most of the time the place was
deserted, so great if you want to let your dogs off lead safely for a
run.”
Hannah & Matt H

“Superb accommodation, really well thought out fixtures and fittings, and
everything is spotlessly clean. Availability is limited because it is
booked solid so book well in advance to avoid disappointment. Money well
spent. We will be back.”
