Heart of Scotland Holidays couldn’t be better placed for a fascinating and immersive escape, with unique attractions in every direction.

The friendly, family-run site is a mere 15-minute walk from the Union Canal and John Muir Way, with Antonine’s Wall on the doorstep and the bustling centres of Glasgow and Edinburgh just half an hour’s drive away… and that’s just for starters!

Better still, your stay will make a genuine difference. Set in the dreamy walled garden of the 18th century, Grade B-listed Kinneil House, all proceeds go directly towards two worthy causes: preserving this historic building and funding vital mental health work.

You’ll have six quirky, two-bedroom glamping lodges to choose from, each sleeping up to four guests. Some are pet-friendly, so your best four-legged friends can have a well-deserved holiday, too – whether dogs or cats.

Generous facilities in each unit include a cosy living area with a TV, a modern shower room and basic cooking facilities, with a well-equipped communal kitchen and laundry. You’ll also have your very own deck or patio to laze on, with a shared area for barbecues and marshmallow-toasting with new friends in the evenings.

The Treehouse is an exquisitely-crafted sanctuary comprising three circular rooms connected by a central atrium, nestled by a mature cherry-blossom tree for savouring the myriad sights and sounds of nature.

As you might expect, the Kennel is a dog-friendly retreat: designed specifically for guests travelling with their faithful friends, with a gated private garden to keep them safe and secure. The Cat Cabin is a fun, feline-friendly retreat with a double-doored porch and plenty of places for curious cats to climb, play, and discover!

More information

Part-buried in the ground, the Bothy boasts a traditional stone-and-slate exterior, with a circular living room, a charming attic, and a soaring ceiling for a luxurious feeling of space. (Note: due to its steep spiral staircase, children must be aged eight or over).

You’ll find the pet-friendly Boathouse secluded by the garden wall and pond, alongside the family’s little sailing yacht – a spacious hideaway with a mezzanine bedroom that looks down onto the sociable living area.

Last but by no means least, the Logstack is a ‘wow-factor’, pet-friendly cabin that’s creatively clad in sections of log. Positioned right next to the pond, it’s also the nearest unit to the communal kitchen: ideal for budding chefs!

Once you’ve settled in, relax as the kids and dogs let off playful steam in the secure walled garden, or head out to explore. Just 40 minutes from Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, 25 minutes from the foot of the Ochils, and with the Falkirk Wheel accessible in a 15-minute drive, the Heart of Scotland is truly your oyster.

Things to note

Units can be booked together for larger groups – please contact the owner directly to enquire. Neither the Bothy nor the mezzanine bedroom in the Boathouse are recommended for young children (under eight years old).
