Surrounded by soothing Cambridgeshire farmland and intriguing marked trails – some of which lead to friendly local pubs – HappenOak Treehouse is the perfect setting from which to explore the glorious English countryside.
It’s just… in order to do that you’ll have to leave: a task that could prove extremely difficult!
Hand-built by owner Bruce himself, with a little help from his sons, HappenOak Treehouse was intended to be a private retreat just for the family to enjoy. But the project was so successful – and visiting friends’ feedback so overwhelmingly positive! – that Bruce decided to open HappenOak’s doors to guests, too.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll see exactly why the treehouse is so loved. Overlooking a ten-acre field, there’s a marvellous sense of being completely at one with nature, far away from life’s endless hustle and bustle.
(Bruce’s family joke that they’re “on safari” when they stay themselves, and since there’s almost no end to the wildlife you can spot – including deer, hares, badgers, and a wide variety of feathered friends – you can see what they mean!)
Finished to an extremely high standard and meticulous attention to detail, there’s plenty of treetop luxury to enjoy, too. For starters, how about relaxing in a raised, illuminated Finnish-style wooden sauna-with-a-view… heated by a clever system that you can turn on and off from the bedroom?
Or you could choose to take a soak in the enormous double-ended bath that showcases the surrounding field and hills. Complete with a hot top-up tank that means you can relax for as long as you like, there’s also plenty of room for candles and the obligatory glass of bubbles.
