The UK’s southernmost village, The Lizard is one of Cornwall’s most beautiful locations. Here, glorious sandy bays and quaint fishing harbours are bordered by rare rock formations, intriguing caves, and magnificent flora and fauna that includes the vibrant Cornish Heather.
The Lizard is also home to Haelarcher Farmhouse, a historic retreat with panoramic sea views… and an ex-Royal Navy helicopter that’s perfect for a uniquely memorable glamping break!
Owners Caroline and Mike converted their Westland Lynx ZD566 to provide the ultimate in quirky comfort, whilst striving to retain its outstanding original features. As such, they’ve kept the cockpit fully intact – ideal if you’ve always dreamed of ‘piloting’ your very own craft!
There’s a comfy double bed on board, too, with bedding and towels provided, and a handy kettle to help with that all-important in-flight catering. And while headroom is limited inside, a hard-top gazebo adds a touch of style… not to mention a little extra standing space.
You’ll also have a picnic table to aid lazy conversation in the sunshine, with private toilet and shower facilities just a few steps away.
What else? A hearty breakfast is served in the farmhouse each morning, home-prepared by Caroline herself. There’s plenty of choice, with all dietary requirements carefully catered for, and bread freshly baked at the farmhouse each day… just irresistible.
(Don’t be surprised if you see different flags fluttering in the breeze outside the farmhouse when you arrive for breakfast – Caroline and Mike will sometimes welcome overseas guests by flying their country’s flag!)
