Grindavik Water Tower
- Sleeps: 4
- Bedrooms: 2
- Bathroom: 1
- Minimum stay: 1 night
Grindavik Water Tower is a jaw-dropping three-storey conversion, set in a sleepy fishing town on Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula. The unique building was originally constructed in 1960 and converted in 2017, with cosy furnishings, sleek mod-cons, and exceptional views – particularly from the top-floor living and dining space!
Surrounded by lava fields, craters, mountains and rugged coastline, there will always be something new and different to spot… even if the iconic Northern Lights choose not to make an appearance during your stay.
The first floor is home to an indulgent shower room, with organic wild-herb skin and hair products from Sóley, a celebrated local brand. Two bedrooms occupy the second floor: a double master room with en-suite facilities, and a cosy twin.
Rustle up delicious meals in the well-equipped top-floor kitchen, or head out to Papa’s Restaurant nearby for exceptional fish and chips. Meanwhile, iconic must-sees include the Blue Lagoon – a geothermal spa that’s one of the most-visited attractions in Iceland – the Geldingadalir volcano, and the symbolic, awe-inspiring Bridge Between Continents.
Yet no matter where you choose to go, you’ll find the entire Reykjanes Peninsula – a UNESCO Global Geopark – rich in new and enthralling places to explore, from beautiful lighthouses to ornate, ancient churches.
