A jaw-dropping Costa Rican jungle dome, created by local artists and secluded amongst lush tropical greenery, with visiting monkeys!
  • Sleeps: 2
  • Bedroom: 1
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 1 night

Promising to take your breath completely away, Green Moon Lodge was brought beautifully to life by friendly artist owner Katrin, and a team of her creative friends.

Perfectly positioned in Montezuma, an exquisite, laid-back surf town on Costa Rica’s stunning Nicoya Peninsula, you’ll be surrounded by a vast tropical garden…

…with an array of visitors that range from colourful hummingbirds, to white-faced monkeys!

The cheerful green Lodge itself took months of love, care, and hard work by Katrin and her team of artists to create. With imagination and precise attention to detail, they made absolutely everything themselves, including the 1200 aircrete blocks needed to build the retreat, which comprises three creatively decorated domes connected by elegant arches.

(Even the entrance door is a thing of wonder, welded into a mesmerising pattern.)

You’ll find the bedroom dome equipped with a downy queen bed, and large round windows to help you greet the sun rising over the trees. During the dry season, why not open the roof and watch the stars, before you drift off to a sound night’s sleep?

The unique-designed bathroom dome features a piping hot shower, a stack of fluffy towels, and a washing machine – handy after a day at the beach!

More information

Last but by no means least, the central living-and-dining dome is luxuriously spacious, and an ideal spot for that morning meditation session, with the gentle sounds of the jungle in the background.

With nothing to do and nowhere to go, you can get up whenever you like, sip morning coffee outside in the garden lounge, then curl up with a good book – and an even better drink – in the hammock, which you’ll find beautifully placed in the shade of the trees.

But if you prefer getting out and exploring, you’re conveniently just a 20-minute walk away from Montezuma’s bustling centre… and of course, those amazing beaches.

There are frequent baby turtle releases on the local beach, and plenty of rivers, lagoons and waterfalls in the surrounding area – ideal if you fancy an invigorating dip!

If you’d rather not walk or rent a car, Katrin is happy to arrange rental of a scooter or quad bike, and she can also help you organise a range of activities, from surfing classes and ziplining, to bioluminescence tours.

Whether your day is filled with activity or relaxation, one thing’s for certain… you won’t want to miss the sun sinking over the jungle from that gorgeous garden lounge. Simply add a freshly mixed sundowner, and that’s holiday perfection more than covered.
