On a beautiful family-run farm in the magnificent North York Moors lies Golden Hill Farm. Like something from a fairy tale itself, this idyllic holiday retreat offers unique accommodation ranging from cottages, to camping, to gypsy caravans for a stay the whole family will treasure!

Only fifteen minutes from Whitby, Golden Hill Farm is a former working farm set in six acres of stunning countryside, lovingly restored by owners Carol, Karl and their family. Today, families and couples alike can relax in these beautiful surroundings alongside the farm’s resident animal friends, including free-range hens, peacocks, miniature ponies, horses and goats.

A stay on a farm creates fabulous childhood memories in itself, but Golden Hill Farm goes above and beyond to ensure those memories are even more special for your little ones, thanks to the imagination and creativity that has gone into every detail of the accommodation.

This is particularly the case for Potts Corner, which has been inspired by the fantastical worlds of storybooks to make guests feel as if they too feature in a magical adventure. From the outside, it’s easy to see which story has inspired the exterior; a circular door and windows, timber frames and grass on the roof combine to create a home that any storybook hero would be proud to own! Surrounded by long grassy fields and stunning views, you and your family really will feel like you’re holidaying in a fantasy.
Inside, Potts Corner accommodates six in total, through a combination of two adults and four children or four adults and two children. Unusual, bespoke fittings throughout continue the storybook feel, without compromising on luxury and comfort. From the fully fitted kitchen to the roll-top bath, adults will enjoy the luxurious touches while the quirky features will fascinate children.  And all will enjoy sweet, storybook-inspired dreams on the handmade, natural mattresses, designed especially for guests!

Smaller families might want to create magical memories in one of the beautiful gypsy caravans, Shepherd’s Nook or Fairy Dell instead. Modernised for comfort while retaining the traditional features, these two caravans are nestled under Scotch pine trees. Imagine sitting on the step under starry skies, sharing stories, telling tales and creating an evening you’ll treasure for years to come. Sleeping four in total, the gypsy caravans are equipped with a basic kitchen for cooking. However, if you want a night off from self-catering, Carol and Karl are happy to arrange a Chinese or pizza delivery for you to enjoy in your wagon!

Guests can also opt to stay in Ground Keepers Cottage, a wizarding-world inspired retreat for six. There are also camping facilities available, open all year round for tents, campervans and caravans.

From Golden Hill Farm, guests are well placed to explore the beautiful surrounding villages, both inland and coastal. One mile away is Liverton, a pretty little village with a fantastic country pub, while six miles away is popular Danby, offering the Danby Moors Centre, a bakery with tearoom and a local inn. Whitby is only a short drive away, with its bustling Dickensian streets, and a must-visit when in the area. As well, with the North York Moors National Park on your doorstep, there’s plenty of opportunity to explore this enigmatic area via the many footpaths.
