Fletland Mill and Holiday Hamlet

A lovingly-restored 18th century watermill with five elegant cottages for 2-30 guests, dog-friendly and secluded right beside the River Glen with private patios, ample on-site leisure facilities, and grazing llamas close by

  • Minimum stay: 3 nights

Fletland Mill and Holiday Hamlet occupies a dream setting for that well-deserved  country escape: nestled right beside the shimmering River Glen, on the edge of the Lincolnshire Fens.

Here, guests have access to vast magical woodland, lush fields, exclusive riverside walks, and tranquil scenes of grazing horses and llamas, in a break that’s all but guaranteed to restore and revive weary souls.

Warm hospitality from owners Melanie and Phil – who live just next-door to the mill – is a given, while luxury accommodation sleeps couples, families, and groups of up to 30 guests.  And with dogs welcome at no extra charge, no-one has to stay behind at home.

The former grain mill dates back to the 1750s, now transformed into an idyllic retreat that blends history with sleek modern style.  Showcasing the mill pond and river, views are worthy of a classic oil painting, while the soothing, spa-like sound of gently running water is regularly described as “therapeutic”.

(Each of the four stylish bedrooms boasts its own TV, though with scenery this beautiful you may not get around to switching it on!).

There’s plenty of sumptuously-furnished mill space for laid-back socialising, cooking and dining, while the family bathroom features a roll-top bath for added indulgence.  The ground floor is home to a pool table and table football, and there’s even a dedicated reading area for those who like to steal away with a good book.  Oh, and the private pontoon is a scenic setting for coffee – or wine! – and laughter-fuelled conversation.

Meanwhile, the five hamlet cottages each boast their own charm and personality, as well as self-contained facilities and private river-view patios.  The Holt is a three bedroom, three bathroom retreat with a garden terrace, while The Roost’s balcony displays the river and woodland to mesmerising perfection.

Once you’ve settled in, there are myriad ways to spend your time at Fletland Mill and Holiday Hamlet.  Available to all guests, on-site activities include a tennis court, catch-and-return fishing, and private trails that wind enticingly through the fields and woodlands… perfect for energetic dogs and lazy picnics.

You’ll also discover plenty of wildlife to spot – Phil reports that there are more rabbits than he can count! – from deer and badgers to mink and otters by the river.  Not to mention red kites swooping overhead as you cradle an afternoon tipple.

What else? That is, if you can undertake the supremely difficult task of leaving Fletland Mill and Holiday Hamlet at all.
