You’ll feel like a vacationing celebrity at Fario Capo Spartivento, which enjoys the most spectacular position on a clifftop in the southernmost region of Sardinia.

Surrounded by heady, unspoilt nature and shimmering sea views, the still-working lighthouse was originally built by the Italian Navy in 1856.  Today its fascinating charm and character remains, yet with sumptuous additions that include an al fresco lounge and barbecue area with a 12-metre fireplace, and glistening crystal dining gazebos.

You’ll also have access to the mesmerising infinity pool and two Jacuzzi, elevated over the sea on a bespoke wooden platform festooned with loungers, white leather sofas and parasols.  Oh, and the spectacular rooftop terrace is perfect for stargazing.

The elegant suites are housed in the main building, with sea-and-mountain views, or in a separate, stylish building – the lighthouse keeper’s lodge – just a few metres away.  Whichever you choose, you’ll find it furnished with a wonderful mix of contemporary design and antique pieces, and a large, cosy bed you won’t want to get out of.

When you’re not dining al fresco or exploring the local area, you can lounge in the main building, with its spiral staircases and striking red chandeliers created from Murano glass.  Italian indulgence at its finest!
