Evia Life Resort is secluded between the rainforest and the sea near Playa Negra, on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast, for a feeling of stepping straight into paradise.

Here awaits a hidden jungle sanctuary, with 10 luxury tented villas arranged in small, individual clusters for a glorious feeling of seclusion. Each villa boasts a private terrace that brings the exotic outside in, while each cluster features a gathering area and a saltwater pool for cooling off under the golden Caribbean sun (cocktail optional).

The opulent, sustainable resort is run by dedicated manager Hector and his family, for a warmly welcoming feel. It offers a serene escape, showcasing the unique beauty of the beaches, rainforest, and vibrant local culture, with personalised service to ensure every guest enjoys complete relaxation.

As such, not only will delicious meals be served directly to your villa each day, but you can also take advantage of in-villa massage treatments, as well as organising private yoga or meditation sessions on the jungle-facing patio.

There is a wealth of resort-curated experiences to choose from, too, ranging from protected wildlife encounters and snorkelling, to horseback riding and river rafting. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even arrange to arrive at the resort from San José via guided whitewater rafting!

The tented villa clusters can be booked individually or all together, depending on the size of your group and the desired level of privacy. The smallest cluster, Wolaba boasts one double and two family villas to sleep six guests, while Pura Vida and Playa Negra each sleep up to 14 guests in one double and three family villas.

Generous villa facilities include a bathroom and al fresco shower, with a fully-equipped kitchen and plentiful outdoor furniture – including a swing and a cabana – for making the most of these incredible natural surroundings and mesmerising jungle views.

Spend your days lazing by the saltwater pool, choose a curated experience, or venture out and explore the area at your own leisure. Bustling Puerto Viejo is a mere 10-minute drive away, while the black sands and world-class waves at Playa Negra can be reached in five. Playa Cocles, Playa Grande, and the picturesque town of Manzanillo are all within easy distance, too.

You can also head to Cahuita National Park – which boasts one of the most beautiful and least-developed beaches in Costa Rica – for a spot of diverse wildlife-watching (among others, you could catch sight of racoons, sloths, toucans, and even howler monkeys) or take a day trip to Panama – just two hours’ drive away.

(We have a feeling, however, that once you’ve stepped into the Caribbean paradise that is Evia Life Resort, you won’t want to leave anytime soon!).
