Deriving from the Greek word eleútheros (“free” in English), Eleuthera Houseboat is a stylish retreat that faces the shimmering Solent at Bembridge Harbour.
Sleeping up to 10 guests, ‘Ele’ – as she is affectionately known by her owners – boasts four bedrooms and two bathrooms, for a family-friendly stay with exceptional views across the harbour.
Elegant and beautiful, the former ‘hopper barge’ is thoughtfully styled with the principles of feng shui and wabi-sabi in mind, featuring commissioned artwork and lovingly handcrafted furniture throughout. Meanwhile, soft neutral tones and natural wood evoke the perfect atmosphere in which to relax and unwind.
You can do just that on the upper-deck lounge, with a dedicated reading area for book-lovers… though on balmy days the furnished sundeck will be ready and waiting. There’s an enormous kitchen and dining-room up top, too – ideal for sociable get-togethers.
You’ll find the cosy bedrooms – a bunk room, two kingsize rooms and the Cabin – on the lower deck, along a hallway walled by the original barge sides.
What to do with your time away? Not only will you be five minutes from the nearest beach, but there’s a plethora of waterside restaurants in easy strolling distance. You can also hire watersports equipment from the harbour, or take a long country walk… the choice is yours.
