Set on a vast, eighty-acre conservation private estate in mid-Wales, the gleaming Earth Conker is an off-grid, state-of-the-art glamping pod that’s been expertly engineered for comfort, and was featured on George Clarke’s ‘Amazing Spaces’ and This Morning’s ‘Staycation Showdown’ – and emerged the winner!

Positioned high on a grassy hill in its own enviable setting, you can luxuriate in the beautiful tapestry of rural Wales below, while a mere stroll will lead you straight into the green Elenydd mountains beyond.

The copper-clad Conker itself is the brainchild of a former engineer, who brought his design experience with Bentley and Rolls-Royce fully to bear in creating a truly spectacular pod-for-two.

No detail has been spared, from the Scandi-style log-cabin bathroom (complete with an amazing hot shower-with-a-view), to the cosy comfort of a ‘proper’ double bed to curl up in at the end of a long day. You’ll also have your own private Swedish-style composting loo, right next door.

Of course, you wouldn’t expect a high-end engineer to forget those little things that really make for a comforting stay, so you’ll find your gleaming orb equipped with a cutting-edge air recirculation system to keep you toasty in winter, and cool in summer.

With the emphasis clearly on switching off from the trappings of technology, those who do need to can find electric points, and a Bluetooth soundbar and lighting help to set the perfect evening mood as you prepare a romantic supper in the deluxe micro-kitchen, or even in the newly added wood-fired pizza oven!

Later on, why not head out to the firepit for a spot of marshmallow-toasting, then relax on your terrace with a hot toddy as the first stars appear in the dark, unpolluted sky?

If you’re an early bird, catching the sunrise with a mug of steaming coffee must surely be the very best way to wake up, as you listen to the soothing sounds of wildlife, and watch the resident red kites as they fly gracefully through the air.

You’ll find the nearest shops and pub within a ten-minute drive, including the noteworthy Newbridge On Wye Post Office, ideal for stocking up on holiday supplies or to withdraw cash. Once you’re done, perhaps while a lazy afternoon away over drinks (you can access the pub on foot if you prefer, with a bracing walk through the scenic moors).

Immerse yourselves in the natural world with a trip to Dyfi Nature Reserve, complete with sand dunes and a stunning beach…with all the traditional trimmings of ice cream vans, kite surfers, and paddling children.

Or of course, you could simply grab your notebook or your drawing pad, and let your creative spirit run blissfully wild and free. There’s no doubt that you’re in the best possible place to unleash it.
