A historic and fun-filled retreat for large group celebrations, complete with a hot tub and games room, perfectly situated on the scenic edge of the Lake District National Park.
  • Sleeps: 24
  • Bedrooms: 12
  • Bathrooms: 11
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Sleeping up to 24 guests, you can bring all your favourite people along for a well-deserved celebration at Crown & Mitre!

The 18th century building cuts a striking dash in the peaceful Cumbrian village of Bampton, with the Lake District National Park right on the doorstep. Better still, inside awaits every holiday comfort you could possibly want.

The celebratory scene is set just as soon as you’ve made your way into the entrance hall, with its glistening chandelier. Then you’re into the welcoming living and dining room – a modern, soft-toned setting to catch up over drinks.

You’ll find a TV and bar area here, too, creating a deliciously casual and relaxed feel (please note, the bar pumps are for show only) – that’s just like meeting friends at the pub, only without other punters getting in the way!

There’s a commercial kitchen, packed with an abundance of industrial-grade appliances for cooking hearty pub grub. You’ll even have a dishwasher and glasswashers to make short work of all the clearing-up afterwards.

Tuck in at the banqueting tables – seating all 24 of you, each and every laughter-fuelled meal will be one to remember! – washed down with plenty of bubbles. If the sun’s still out, take your post-dinner tipples out to the furnished patio to catch its lingering rays.

While you’re out there, you could choose to take a soothing hot tub soak, or head back inside for an air hockey or table football tournament in the games room… your choice!

More information

When it’s finally time to turn in, you’ll have not one, not two, but 12 elegant bedrooms to choose from; each one individually styled and furnished to suit singles, couple, and families. Eight rooms are on the first floor, including a superking, two kingsize, two doubles and two twin rooms.

Each room has en-suite facilities, to eliminate cross-legged queues – and if you choose one of the twin rooms you’ll even be treated to a sumptuous roll-top bathtub.

There are four more bedrooms on the second floor, including the studio-style master. Boasting a superking bed, a dining and lounge area, and even a crackling wood-burning stove, it’s the ideal room for those seeking a little extra privacy. There’s another superking room, as well as a kingsize, and a family room with three singles.

After a sound night’s sleep and a pub-style fry-up, why not get to know the local area a little better? RSPB Haweswater is close by – a haven for nature-lovers – or stock up on essentials in the quaint village of Shap.

This being the Lake District, there’s plenty of scope for beautiful walks and cycling trips too, with everyone doing just what they like before coming together again by star-filled evening.

Things to note

Short stays (under 1 week) only. Pets are regrettably not permitted. Please note that there are concrete steps leading from the bar area. The hot tub is operational between 8am and 8pm. Two of the second-floor bedrooms feature sloped ceilings.
