Monmouthshire is a very special place.  Stunningly set between the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you’ll find more castles per square mile than anywhere else in the UK.

Cromwell’s Hideaway, a bespoke-crafted shepherd’s hut, is the result of a true labour of love from owners Karen and Dave.  After falling in love with Monmouthshire themselves, their dream was to create a luxury farmland hideaway from which others could enjoy the beautiful chocolate-box scenery, far away from the stresses of home.

Named after Oliver Cromwell, who was said to have once resided in the nearby farmhouse at the Warrage Farm, Cromwell’s Hideaway is perfectly situated for you to enjoy the most magnificent country views, with an awe-inspiring vista that takes in Raglan Castle and the rolling Brecon Beacons.  Blissfully secluded, you can enjoy total privacy.

Every last detail has been carefully thought about, and inside your surprisingly spacious hut you’ll find relaxing soft-toned décor, temptingly cosy furnishings, and luxurious additions that include underfloor heating and a crackling log burner.  There’s also a charming country kitchen with separate dining area, and a shower equipped with toiletries and soft towels.

Fully equipped with running water and mains electricity, you’ll have everything you need to sit back, relax and switch off from everyday life.

Revel in a sound night’s sleep amongst the stars and the hooting owls, and awake to a delicious continental breakfast provided by Karen and Dave for your first morning (you’ll arrive to a welcoming committee of tea and cake, too!)

During the day, why not simply relax with a book outside, as you listen to the gentle chorus of birdsong and lambs?  While we wouldn’t blame you if you stayed put all holiday long, there’s also plenty to see and do for those who enjoy getting out and about.

What the guests of Cromwell’s Hideaway say

“Had a wonderful week at Cromwell’s Hideaway! The hut has all the luxurious touches you could want – an amazing welcome basket, a comfy armchair, coffee machine and fluffy towels to mention just a few – and is in a beautiful secluded setting. We enjoyed eating outside and cooking on the fire pit looking out over the countryside (with our friendly cow neighbours!). Our hosts Karen and Dave made us feel very welcome and gave us great suggestions for things to do in the local area. Thank you both – I’m sure we’ll be back!”

“A perfect hideaway for a weekend away. Small but perfectly formed, the hut is packed with luxurious and thoughtful touches. The hut overlooks the fields and the only noise is the bleating of the sheep… perfect for a weekend escape.”

“Just returned home from a beautiful stay at Cromwell’s hideaway! The location is perfect as it’s peaceful and tucked away from busy roads. However, if you did fancy popping somewhere busier- it’s really not that far to Abergavenny, and we hopped on the train from there into Cardiff which was super easy. We had a lovely few days again, and would definitely come back! Thank you so much for having us!”
