As one of France’s very first eco-resorts, Cabanes des Grands Lacs (that’s “Great Lakes” in English) is sure to re-awaken your love for the natural world in all its timeless glory.
Spread across over 200 acres of forest land and shimmering lakes in the glorious Franche-Comté region, you’ll discover a beautiful variety of holiday havens…some perched in the trees, and some floating gently on the water.
Dedicated to protecting the beauty of this spectacular natural environment, each cabin blends perfectly with its surroundings, using no water or electricity (though some cabins are equipped with a chemical-free Nordic bath on the terrace…proving that eco-friendliness doesn’t mean compromising on luxury!)
Choose your natureful paradise from a selection of nest-like cabins, ‘perched’ in the trees, or serene floating cabins. Each type is available for two, or in larger sizes for families, sleeping 4-6 people.
The innovative tree cabins, some perched up to 9 metres high, were the first of their type to be constructed in France, without the use of nails or screws. Cosily insulated with wool, they are accessible via ladder, suspension bridge or staircase.
(The larger family cabins are equipped with stairs, and are secured with gates and nets to ensure the little ones get to enjoy all the fun safely).
Meanwhile, the floating cabins can only be reached by boat or pontoon, for that delicious feeling of being cast adrift from the rest of the world.
