An award-winning, adults-only haven blissfully secluded among soothing woodland on the Llŷn Peninsula, with a wildflower meadow, a private lake, and soul-stirring mountain views.
  • Sleeps: 2 per hut
  • Bedrooms: 1 per hut
  • Bathrooms: 1 per hut
  • Minimum stay: 2-3 nights

The proud winner of a Visit Wales Gold Award, Brook Cottage Shepherd Huts comprises five luxurious hand-crafted havens secluded in North Wales, close to Pwllheli on the Llŷn Peninsula, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Surrounded by fresh air, ancient woodland and uninterrupted mountain views, the private, adults-only site also boasts a shimmering wildlife lake and a wildflower meadow, for an escape that feels like unwinding in natural paradise.

Featured on the popular BBC TV show Interior Design Masters, it’s no surprise that this multiple award-winning retreat has also been recognised – by the Guardian, The Times, and countless others – as one of the UK’s best glamping stays.

Owners Joss and Steve have personally seen to it that whichever unique hut you choose, you’ll feel calm and comforted from the moment you step inside. Each is also named in tribute to a notable woman from the reign of Llywelyn the Great, for a suitably regal mood!

A luxury shepherd’s hut, Joan is the largest of the quintet, opening straight out to that beautiful lake for peaceful, sun-dappled mornings of wildlife-watching (keep an eye out for herons and kingfishers, and even the occasional grazing deer). Your four-legged friend is more than welcome to join you here, too.

Susanna and Angharad are both sumptuous poachers’ huts with bespoke styling and mesmerising views, both also opening out to the lake. Susanna’s calming design echoes the sea around the peninsula, while dog-friendly Angharad’s décor is inspired by the surrounding hills and mountains.

Meanwhile, Marared and Elen are idyllic lake-view gypsy huts, both styled with home-from-home warmth and relaxation firmly in mind. And with no Wi-Fi anywhere on site, your scene is set for the ultimate digital detox.

What the guests of Brook Cottage Shepherd Huts say

“I almost hesitate to write this review because part of me wants to keep this magical place a secret. It’s unlike anywhere I’ve ever been—so special, calming, and peaceful. I spent hours on my private garden terrace, simply watching nature, gazing at the mountains through the trees, and at night, marvelling at the endless stars. The location couldn’t be better, with some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen just a 20–30 minute drive away. Joss and Steve are wonderful hosts – kind, attentive, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Everything inside the hut is carefully thought out and the kitchen is very well equipped. I would recommend this place to everyone, I was devastated to leave and I can’t wait to return.” – Sarah

“Our stay in this luxury shepherd’s hut was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed – from the beautifully crafted interior to the high-end finishes that make it feel like a boutique hotel in the middle of nature… The hosts were fantastic – they clearly care deeply about their guests’ experience and have created something truly special here. If you’re looking for a relaxing, and luxurious rural getaway, this Shepherd’s Hut is an absolute gem. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back.” – Chloe

“We had the most wonderful weekend at Brook Cottage Shepherd Huts! The hut was spotlessly clean, beautifully designed, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The setting is truly stunning, with spectacular views of the Rivals – a perfect slice of peaceful Welsh countryside. A huge thank you to Joss and Steve for being such thoughtful and welcoming hosts. Every detail was clearly considered, and it made our stay feel extra special. We’re already planning our return – highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, scenic escape in Wales!” – Rhianne
