Luxurious transparent retreats with private hot tubs, saunas, and outstanding views across the sea, beautifully secluded just moments from the coast at Castlerock.
  • Sleeps: 2 per dome
  • Bedrooms: 1 per done
  • Bathrooms: 1 per dome
  • Minimum stay: 1 night

Boasting mesmerising views across the sea to Portstewart and the isle of Islay from the front, a stay at Boutique Domes means you’ll also have the Binevenagh Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to explore just behind.

The seaside village of Castlerock is just a few minutes’ drive away, too – a magical location where the author C.S. Lewis holidayed as child, taking inspiration for his classic book, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe in the process.

But what of the sumptuous domes themselves? Part-transparent, part-mirrored to blend with their fresh countryside surroundings, each dome is elevated on its own grassy platform to showcase the most magnificent views.

Inside awaits cosy-cushioned furnishings and a downy double bed primed for a sound night’s slumber. Positioned right behind the transparent part of the dome, you can watch the sunset, stars, or the early-morning sky (whichever you prefer!) without having to leave the confines of your snuggly duvet.

Though with your very own barbecue and firepit just outside, you can stay up chatting over good food and good wine to your hearts’ content. Who knows… maybe you’ll even catch sight of the elusive Northern Lights dancing across the night sky.

Private facilities are gainfully provided meanwhile, in the form of a sleek fitted kitchen that includes a fridge stocked with everything you’ll need to make steaming cups of tea and coffee, as well as a delicious breakfast.

Freshen up in your own bathroom, complete with invigorating rain-shower, or relax in your dome’s covered hot tub or sauna – a blissful holiday treat!

The aforementioned Binevenagh Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is ideal for those who remembered to pack sturdy walking boots and bicycles, with plenty of scope for long rambles and scenic rides through exceptional nature.

Head for the dramatic cliffs and pay a visit to Mussenden Temple, an exquisite circular building originally built in 1785, or make your grand entrance to the Bishop’s Palace at Downhill via the Lion’s Gates, which lead to a beautiful walled garden that once provided flowers, fruit and vegetables for the palace.

Meanwhile, if you don’t feel like doing your own cooking there are plenty of delicious options close by – including takeaways, so you can savour that spectacular sunset from your dome, with dinner cooked by a talented someone else.
