Bee’s Bower is one of a unique collection of retreats, each one set in its own peaceful, secluded spot on a family-run farm in the heart of Herefordshire. The friendly owners are committed to sustainable agriculture and genuine eco-living, creating an off-grid stay designed to gently reconnect you with nature.

You’ll discover the unique retreat following a leisurely wander through wildflower meadows and along tranquil woodland paths – a glorious sensory treat. An enchanting A-frame wood-and-canvas structure stands elevated over a copse, here you can savour magical valley views and a joyous soundtrack of birdsong.

‘Bower’ is an Old English word that means “a leafy shelter”, and that’s exactly what you’ll find here… only with plenty of added luxury. Crafted by a shipbuilder to traditional, natural building methods, you’ll be endlessly captivated by the detail-rich interior.

At the centre is a large tree stump, which supports an exquisitely hand-carved spiral staircase. Many accessories, including lights, lamps, shelves and handles, are handmade, while the cosy living area boasts snug seating and a soft-glowing wood-burner – a real delight on chillier evenings.

There are hidden corners everywhere to curl up and unwind – but the show stopper? A hand-beaten copper bathtub, perfectly placed to soak up the sweeping views of the hills after a day outdoors. Even the bath taps have been cleverly handmade – just one of the many thoughtful touches in this beautifully-crafted retreat.

The generous balcony is also home to a table and chairs for book-reading, al fresco dining, or getting lost in lazy conversation over a well-deserved bottle of wine, as the sun descends over the wooded valley beyond.

After a sizzling barbecue supper and a spot of stargazing, take that spiral staircase up to the bedroom, where you’ll find a kingsize bed luxuriously dressed in bamboo linen and sheepskins for extra warmth. Perhaps you’ll even hear the occasional owl’s hoot as you drift into a sound night of slumber.

What the guests of Bee’s Bower say

“Absolutely obsessed with this place. It’s quirky, cosy, peaceful, beautiful surroundings, great hosts. We got fabulous clear skies and saw a meteor shower on our second night as well as the Milky Way. We are already planning to stay for longer next year as we totally de-stressed while we were here. Only downside was we didn’t book for longer. I can highly recommend Bee’s Bower to anyone who enjoys nature and the peace it brings.”

“Absolutely one of the most magical places we have ever stayed. The treehouse had recently had a ‘proper’ roof fitted and it was so toasty and cosy, even though the weather was very cold and wet. The bath is absolutely incredible – very impressed with the brilliant hot water supply and water pressure considering you’re in a treehouse! The view was stunning, and we loved sitting out with blankets watching thunder and lightning. Our dog was in HEAVEN, with her very own meadow to run wild in. Whilst the treehouse feels very luxurious, it’s also rustic, with no wifi/mains electric, and a cool box (with a communal fridge a short wheelbarrow ride away) – all of which to us, added to the off grid magic and feeling of total relaxation. Don’t think we’ve ever slept so peacefully, or felt so refreshed after a holiday. Matt was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and friendly – we’re so impressed with what he has created and can’t wait to return – we’ll be back! (again, and again, and again)”

“We had an absolutely beautiful stay at Goytree Treehouse, the locations is amazing, the house is beautiful, and it was a great escape away. I even used it as my setting to propose (she said yes), we didn’t want to leave! We will definitely be back!”
