A special place for nature-lovers and stargazers, Galloway is characterised by rugged glens, magical forest trails, and pitch-dark skies… in which you can easily view over 7,000 stars and planets on a clear night.
You’ll find Barnharrow Holiday Pods in a justly picturesque position, close to the captivating Galloway Forest Park. Set peacefully on a vast, family-run farm are six cosy pods – three of which boast a private hot tub.
Welcoming owners Emily and Andy have seen to it that each family-and-dog-friendly pod is styled for blissful comfort. Toasty insulation and a soft-glowing log burner will keep you warm whatever the weather, while a well-equipped kitchenette and en-suite shower mean you’ll have plenty of holiday conveniences.
There’s also a downy double bed to curl up in, with additional sleeping space for up to 4 children (please bring your own bedding and towels if using the sofa/bunk beds), and a TV with Freesat to keep you entertained on cosy evenings in.
What to do once you’ve unpacked and unwound? The choice is yours! If you’ve timed your visit for spring, lambing season is an utter joy to watch. Long summer evenings can be spent firing up your barbecue for a sizzling sunset supper, before settling in to watch the twinkling stars appear… perhaps from the comfort of your hot tub, glass of bubbles firmly in hand.
Prefer venturing out? You couldn’t be in a better place. Practically on the doorstep and ripe for exploring are lush forests and shimmering lochs, along with mile after mile of unspoilt coastline… just don’t forget to pack your hiking boots and waterproofs.
If you’ve also remembered your mountain bike, the world-famous, award-winning 7Stanes trails are nearby, with an array of options to suit all levels (try the extreme downhill section only if you dare!)

For those who enjoy a slower pace of holiday life, there’s always the option of browsing endless bookshops at Wigtown – Scotland’s designated National Book Town – or indulging in a round of golf… well, you are in Scotland, after all.
Oh, and there’s also an array of stately homes and exquisite gardens to wander through in the local area, including the magnificent Castle Kennedy Gardens, which are among the most child-friendly in Scotland.

Things to note
Up to two dogs are welcome to stay, for an additional charge per dog. Children under 3 years stay free. Along with kitchen and bathroom essentials, please bring additional bedding and towels if using the sofa/bunk beds (bunk beds are available in two of the pods). From price based on two adults sharing non hot tub pod.
