A ‘bucket-list’ retreat quite unlike any other, Apukka Resort Rovaniemi is breath-takingly located in one of the most beautiful parts of the world… the glistening capital of Lapland, to be exact.
Not only could you cross the Arctic Circle every day if you chose, but you could also pay a visit to Santa himself! Rovaniemi was declared the official hometown of Santa Claus in 1985, and the fairytale Santa Claus Village is just 10 minutes from the resort.
Surrounded by shimmering wilderness lakes, the resort thrives with Arctic nature and Lappish culture alike.
Nowhere else do each of the seasons appear quite so beautiful, from nature bathing in the midnight summer sun, to sparkling ice adventures and crackling bonfires under starry winter skies… in which you might also get to see the elusive Northern Lights.
There’s a wide variety of resort accommodation to choose from, to suit single travellers, couples, families, and groups of friends.
The bespoke-designed Komsio and Kammi Aurora suites, each sleeping two guests, afford full 360-degree sky views right from your bed, while the larger Kammi Family Suites are set by Lake Olkka, and feature two bedrooms with a spacious lounge area.
The Aurora Cabins are glass ‘igloos’ that, if you’re lucky, will showcase those magical Northern Lights dancing across the sky… and with its heated panoramic glass roof, you can enjoy breath-taking scenes of nature without built-up snow ruining the view!

More information
Or how about bedding down in an Aurora Wagon, set on a snowy hilltop or a frozen lake, with a bonfire prepped outside for epic stargazing?
If you’ve got an even larger group in tow, Villa Apukka, a stunning house built in 1948, boasts three generous bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an electric sauna.
Last but by no means least are the ‘Frozen’-style Ice Cabins, created from logs of pure ice! Even though the temperature inside is between 0 and -5 degrees, you’ll sleep on a super-thick thermal sleeping bag covered with luxurious reindeer hides, so you’ll feel perfectly toasty.
What else? Well, there’s a 100-year-old timber log restaurant to help you enjoy traditional Lappish cuisine around an enormous stone fireplace.
You can also indulge in a spectacular array of seasonal adventures. During winter in particular a world of wonders await, including husky tours, night-time snowmobile safaris, snowshoe walks, sauna experiences, ice fishing, and even meeting the Arctic animals at Ranua Wildlife Park.
To make your stay even more magical, at Christmas time you can take a reindeer sleigh-ride to Santa through the magic forest… complete with warm drinks, cookies, and entertainment from the resident elves before you meet the man himself!
In short, to stay at Apukka Resort is to embark on a unique holiday that will linger long in your memory forever after.
