A grand, indulgent castle-inspired retreat with a cinema room, gym and sauna, set amongst rolling Shropshire parkland that overlooks the shimmering River Severn.
  • Sleeps: 23
  • Bedrooms: 8
  • Bathrooms: 9
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Said to be the inspiration for P.G. Wodehouse’s fictional, celebrated Blandings Castle, Apley Hall is an imposing Gothic-style retreat that was designed to emulate a romantic riverside palace.

Commissioned by Thomas Whitmore in 1811, the magnificent building is nestled amongst 180 acres of private parkland that overlooks the shimmering River Severn… a perfect setting for the grandest of large group celebrations.

Up to 23 lucky guests can be accommodated in eight large, elegant bedrooms, so no-one has to be left off the invitation list. And once your guests have set their eyes upon the battlemented parapets and mullioned windows that characterise Apley Hall’s majestic exterior, they’ll be very glad they know you!

Through the arched entranceway awaits a treasure-trove of rooms and spaces, each one expertly designed and furnished to inspire gasps of wonder. Enormous sash windows showcase those mesmerising parkland views to perfection, while soaring ceilings, well-chosen art pieces, and ornate plasterwork will make you feel as though you’re starring in your very own period drama.

Ideal for wow-factor feasts, the banqueting room is available by separate arrangement, and there’s a huge, sociable kitchen that means your guests may actually argue over who gets to do the holiday catering.

Alongside fun catch-up conversation with friends and loved ones, entertainment comes in the form of a swish, leather-seated cinema room (just add popcorn), a games room, and heaving bookshelves that beg you to pick a favourite and find a quiet, opulent space.

Later on, why not relax in the sauna after a sweaty workout in the well-equipped gym – ideal for burning off unwanted calories from all those indulgent meals!
