Surrounded by rolling hills, green forestland, and the pristine waters of Brazil’s Jaguari dam – the highest in the region – Altar is perfectly positioned for a supreme romantic escape.
You’ll find the unique, off-grid house floating serenely at the foot of the captivating Serra da Mantiqueira, on a private farm site. Mantiqueira means “mountains that cry”; a beautiful word that encapsulates the many sparkling springs and streams you’ll discover all around you.
Constructed both to blend with and maximise the beauty of nature, Altar is soothingly off-grid, using solar energy to power integrated systems that provide lighting, fresh water, and cutting-edge sanitation.
Meanwhile, a soft-glowing wood burning stove offers plenty of warmth on cooler evenings. Blissfully free from digital distractions, all you’ll have to do is open up your delicious welcome gift of local wine and cheese, and get to know your loved one all over again.
Flanked by enormous windows, there’s plenty of ever-changing scenery to savour, as you relax in the comfort-filled lounge. There’s no TV, but if you’re in need of additional entertainment, the vintage record player and home cinema projector should see you right.
You’ll find the integrated kitchen equipped with everything you’ll need, and a little more besides… as well as that lovely cheese and wine, you’ll also find locally sourced produce to help you whip up a tasty breakfast.
That is, if you can tear yourselves out of the downy queensize bed… in which you’ve been gently rocked by the water into a sound night’s slumber! There’s a sofa bed for two additional guests, if needed.
