Perfectly positioned 350 metres above sea level in the glorious Cheviot Hills, Alpnhaus is a deliciously secluded and award-winning Scottish Borders retreat that will embrace you in a warm, wondrous hug.
Architect-designed, adults-only, and completely off-grid, here you can relax with your loved one and your best four-legged friend, surrounded by breath-taking natural beauty both inside and out of your luxurious Alpine chalet.
Friendly owners Christa and Del live in the stone cottage next-door, on their historic farm-steading Singdean. Not only is Alpnhaus their personal labour of love, but they’ve also ensured that guests feel royally pampered from the moment they arrive.
Just for you, the wood-fired hot tub will be filled with pure Scottish spring water, then gently heated until it reaches the perfect temperature for stargazing. And since you’re near the Kielder Observatory, in a blissfully quiet area with little light pollution, you’re in for a spectacular treat!
You’ll also be treated to a traditional, freshly-prepared Alpine mountain breakfast basket, which will be placed outside your door each morning (softly, so as not to disturb that lazy lie-in).
Christa’s family hail directly from the Alps, so the cabin’s décor and furnishings are truly authentic: think deep leather sofas, thick rugs, and natural exposed wood. The superking bed, meanwhile, features a high-quality mattress that’s hand-made from cotton, silk, and wool, with butter-soft pillows and snuggly German down duvets.
Entertainment-wise, you’ll have a Freesat Smart TV to unwind in front of – powered by renewable energy electricity – and a Bluetooth Sonos speaker to help you set the perfect background mood. Though outside awaits a captivating wealth of nature to keep an eye on, from soaring birds of prey to scurrying badgers.
