Boasting shimmering Adriatic Sea views, Airstream Petrarolo is beautifully elevated on a vast, historic estate in Puglia, where it occupies a lush green field all to itself.

Surrounded by ancient whispering trees and heady, sweet-scented orange groves, you’ll feel relaxed and inspired just as soon as you arrive at the glistening retreat: an original, luxuriously restored American Airstream trailer from the 1970s.

The gently curved, design-led interiors are immediately welcoming, with muted colours, natural wood, and plenty of soft furnishings that evoke a cosy feeling of home. This is an eco-friendly retreat, too: powered by the estate’s state-of-the-art solar panels.

You’ll find the roomy living space and kitchen equipped with every convenience you could want, including a gas oven and grill, plenty of cushioned spaces for lounging, and a dining table that cleverly coverts to a cosy double bed if needed!

There’s a Bose sound system to help you set the perfect soundtrack for indoor meals, or head out to the sun deck and savour a languorous, shaded al fresco lunch at the sheltered dining table, instead. There’s a firepit and barbecue for sizzling sunset suppers and big-sky stargazing later on, too.

Oh, and you’ll also find a shimmering 8m x 4m swimming pool, bordered by views of surrounding greenery that lead all the way out towards the sea… bliss!

While you’re outside, why not freshen up in the incredible al fresco bathroom – which boasts an energising shower, boutique stone wash basins and mirrors, and even a curtained WC?

More information

Don’t worry if you prefer more traditional bathroom facilities, since you’ll find a piping hot, ‘wet-room’-style walk-in shower and toilet in the Airstream itself, together with an irresistibly comfy double bedroom to curl up in at the end of a long day of doing just whatever you’re in the mood for.

Options include lazing on a sun-lounger with a good book, or opening a bottle of local wine and getting lost in the kind of long, deep conversations you never have the time for at home.

You could also explore the estate gardens, which encompass ancient olive and citrus groves, and a myriad of fruit trees. See if you can find the intriguing stone pyramid, which some believe was originally built by an ancient southern Italian tribe… and others by aliens (you decide!)

If you prefer exploring further afield, you’re a mere 20 minutes away from some picture-perfect white-sand beaches. Arrange a sight-seeing boat trip, or take the beautiful 50-minute drive to Lecce: a mesmerising city dubbed the “Florence of the South” due to its incredible Baroque architecture.
