West Stow Pods
England / Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Full description
How about an unforgettable escape to the beautiful Suffolk countryside with West Stow Pods, where hobbit pods and more offer something for everyone at this glamping idyll.
West Stow Pods is a family-run glamping site, about four miles from bustling Bury St Edmunds. You'll discover a range of fantastic glamping pods and unique abodes here, each one perfectly situated in private woodland for a peaceful escape to nature. With heating, lighting and electricity in each one, as well as TVs, DVD players and even hot showers, you're invited to make the very most of this relaxing location without leaving any modern comforts behind!
Pod Hollow is just one of those fantastic abodes, and comes with a very Tolkien-esque twist! Set within the side of a grassy knoll in its own woodland clearing, this charming dwelling provides a perfect home-from-home for up to five keen adventurers. It won't be Mr Baggins to greet you behind that circular front door, but a wonderfully welcoming, fully equipped home - complete with two bedrooms, a cosy sitting room, a kitchen and a shower room!
Warm your feet (hairy or otherwise!) in front of the sitting room's fire, from the comfort of your cosy sofa. Your fully fitted kitchen - complete with an integrated oven, a dishwasher and an all-important wine rack - is the perfect size for fixing up breakfast, lunch and dinner (not to mention second breakfast, elevenses, afternoon tea and supper for true Halflings!). You'll also find a super comfy king-size bed in each of the two bedrooms, making Pod Hollow the perfect place for a totally enchanting family getaway. Make more of your visit by enjoying a range of experiences provided by Arnor Heritage, and create your very own Middle Earth Adventure! (contact the owners for more details)
Or there are the four MegaPods to try! Situated apart from each other but within sight in a spacious clearing, these are the perfect option if you're travelling in a larger group to West Stow Pods. However, with 80ft between each one, they also offer perfect privacy if you're visiting on your own. Think of your MegaPod like a traditional camping trip - without having to worry about putting up a tent, leaking canvas or chilly nights! All you need to do is pack the essentials you'd usually take with you (your bedding, towels, plates and cups and so on), and look forward to using them in this snug, self-contained cabin.
A double bed and double sofa bed mean you can wave goodbye to uncomfortable airbeds, while hot showers await in your integrated wet room. The kitchenette promises all the mod cons you'll need - including a kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave - while the dining table and chairs add a touch of home. You even have a covered porch complete with seating and a brick BBQ for long evenings together in your wonderful woodland setting - bliss!
Finally, the Woodland Lodge and Cedar Lodge provide a perfectly peaceful hideaway for four or two respectively, in all offering a similar level of luxury to a MegaPod. There is a kitchenette, shower room, covered porch (with a mobile BBQ) and TV and DVD player, and one bedroom in Cedar Lodge but also two separate bedrooms in Woodland Lodge - one with a double bed and the other with a pair of comfy bunkbeds (perfect for children but suitable for adults!)
For ease of unpacking, there is parking adjacent to The Lodges. which is situated adjacent to the car park and a country lane. This gives easy access to the wonderful walks, cycle trails the area has to offer, making it a great spot for getting out and about and exploring.
West Stow Anglo Saxon Village is just 4 minutes in the car from West Stow Pods, a reconstructed 4th century village which promises a great day out for guests of all ages. Nearby Bury St Edmunds is an easy 15-minute drive and a must-visit for its famous abbey, excellent shops and tours of the Greene King Brewery. Further south, the picturesque streets of Lavenham are just half an hour away, while a 10-minute drive north will take you to Thetford Forest for Grimes Graves, Combat Paintballing and Go Ape!
Could there be a better way to enjoy all the fun of camping and all the comforts of home? West Stow Pods has all you're looking for...so when are you making your escape to the woodland?
Things to note
Parking is provided, one space per pod in a dedicated car park. No smoking inside pods but outside the pods is permitted using an ashtray. Dogs are permitted to stay and there are two 'dog-free' pods. Megapods: bring everything you'd bring for a camping trip. The Lodges: bring bedding, towels and BBQ coals.
