For a touch of magic, how about a stay in an utterly charming tree house, cabin or bell tent, adorned with fairy lights and lanterns, and nestled in an idyllic Norfolk river valley?
West Lexham enjoys an outstanding reputation for unique accommodation and second-to-none facilities, all set amongst 21 acres of gardens, woodland, lake, and river.
Each one unique in its design and character, the beautifully furnished tree houses immediately evoke thoughts of Enid Blyton’s ‘Faraway Tree’ adventures, and a stay in one of these fairy-tale homes will make memories that kids (and even big kids!) will cherish.
Sunrise Tree House – the largest on offer – is truly a spectacle to behold. Sleeping six between two double beds and two twins, this is not your average tree house; with French doors, an open-plan living room, two bedrooms, and even Georgian sash windows, it offers specifications that many ground-level homes would be proud to boast!
Tinker Tree House, the country’s first to be made available for overnight stays, offers a more intimate retreat for two, and is perfectly packaged as a cosy treetop bolthole, with heavenly views across the lake from the balcony.
Quercus Tree House is a real showstopper, complete with wood-fired kitchen, with an open-plan mezzanine design and four poster beds, giving a real sense of space on a level with the squirrels and birds! Tilia Tree House is a similar design to Quercus and stands the tallest, but with its own unique design and sunny south facing view over the treetops.
The tree temples are ideal for families with small children. Built just a little way off the ground, they offer an eclectic mix of a tree house, yurt, and safari tent! Ash Tree Temple sleeps four between a double bed and two twins, and even comes with stained glass windows, while the smaller Owl Tree Temple sleeps two to three, with its double bed and optional extra child’s bed.

Brand new for 2021, the Cabins have been designed for maximum comfort and relaxation, with four boasting their own en-suite bathrooms, and two sharing a garden washhouse. Equipped with heating and electricity, each cabin features a double bed, and a small pull-out bed that’s ideal for the little ones!
For those who prefer their holidays on good old terra firma, West Lexham’s cute and quirky Bell Tents are the perfect answer. With each one sleeping between two and four people, they are perfect for couples or families, but larger groups can hire pairs of tents, with four of the six bell tents available offering this option.
The bathroom blocks with their piping hot showers are in easy reach of all accommodation. Guests are also invited to use the huge campfire, perfect for watching the sunset over the valley. And don’t forget that all water onsite comes from the site’s own well that springs from the ancient chalk aquifer – just one more unique aspect of this place!
West Lexham is a fully kitted out, eco-friendly paradise for your staycation. There’s an abundance of epic venues, cool spots, calm spaces and vibrant facilities.
West Lexham Garden Kitchen cooks seasonal, organic food and uses an astonishing diversity of fresh vegetables, fruit, flowers and herbs picked daily from the garden just metres away. A hyper-local menu that changes by season is designed to highlight delicious produce from key local suppliers. When the Garden Kitchen Cafe is closed, guests will have access to a communal outdoor kitchen, which will include utensils, plates and cutlery, BBQ, induction hob, microwave, kettle and toaster.
The lake for wild swimming and water-based adventures is flanked by the lakeside shellhouse which you can reach by rowing boat – and there’s even a natural swimming pool for lazy afternoon dips.
Who could ask for anything more?
Things to note
The swimming pool is open from May-September. Dogs must be kept on leads around the site and in communal areas. There are numerous areas around the site with deep water, including an unsupervised swimming pool, lakes, and rivers.
