Something very special is waiting for you, deep in the beautiful landscape of Glenmont, Ohio. It’s known as The Mohicans, a wonderfully indulgent glamping retreat to nature.

You’ll discover nine unique treehouses and four luxurious cabins nestled in this rustic paradise, just a few miles from the breathtaking Mohican State Park Forest. Whether you’re searching for an unforgettable romantic retreat, the holiday of a lifetime for your family, or the perfect location for a special gathering, The Mohicans has it all.

First up, the treehouses. These stunning creations will rekindle lost memories of your childhood treehouse adventures, while promising all the luxurious comforts we can’t live without as adults!

Each one is uniquely designed, exquisitely crafted and beautifully fitted with kitchenettes (featuring mini fridges, hobs, microwaves and all the crockery, cutlery and glassware you’ll need), with indoor plumbed bathrooms, toasty heating, and even flat screen TVs and DVD players.

In fact, think of your treehouse as a luxurious suite…suspended 20ft off the ground! Outside, you can relax on a spacious decking area, surrounded by views of the Mohican Forest. Inside, expect the highest-quality fixtures and fittings, from lavish bed linen and towels to expertly handcrafted furniture.

For couples, Little Red and The Nest make wonderfully romantic boltholes. Little Red – evoking images of the red barns you’ll find dotted around the countryside – was specially constructed for the Discovery Channel show, Treehouse Masters, and designed by world-famous treehouse designer Pete Nelson.  Its gorgeous 5ft stained glass window will make you feel as if you’re truly living among the trees!

Meanwhile, The Nest was created by world-renowned treehouse designer Roderick Romero. The circular, single-suite design is super-snug, while cathedral windows, a pewter chandelier and a curtained bed add honeymoon-style luxury.

More information

The remaining treehouses each sleep four people apiece, in two queen beds – ideal for families and friends. Tin Shed is the most ambitious and futuristic treehouse, blending industrial interiors with rustic touches, and is accessed by a steel spiral staircase and a unique 100ft extension bridge (perfect if you’re a budding Indiana Jones!)

Meanwhile, Old Pine feels as if you’re stepping back to the 1800s – a deliciously homely hideaway crafted from 100% reclaimed materials, including hand-hewn beams and a 100-year-old barn siding.

Also custom-designed and crafted from reclaimed timber, the sumptuously private, ultra-romantic Moonlight features a host of modern luxuries too – including granite worktops, a stainless steel farmhouse sink, and even a crystal chandelier! Oh, and there’s even an outdoor shower for those warmer days.

White Oak – also designed by Pete Nelson – is a truly stunning treehouse set among white oaks and hickory trees, promising space, light and oodles of charm.  The View is a brand new addition and uses modern materials including grey corrugrated iron and local lumber, with floor to ceiling windows and an outdoor shower is a nice extra touch.

If you prefer the comfort of solid ground, The Mohicans’ four idyllic cabins are for you. Perfect for larger families or groups, all have been hand-built by a team of local Amish craftsmen to the very highest standard, and promise two floors of rustic charm, every necessity you could possibly need, and a deck for soaking up the surroundings.

Sleeping up to eight guests, The Kokosing offers two well-appointed bedrooms, each with a queen bed and twins, as well as a full bathroom. The Killbuck also offers two bedrooms (one with three single beds) and a full bathroom, sleeping seven guests in total.

For larger groups, The Walhonding is a must-stay, providing beautiful accommodation for up to 12 guests between four bedrooms, as well as a full bathroom and additional WC. If there are even more of you to accommodate, try The Mohican, with its four luxurious bedrooms sleeping 15 guests between them!

If you can tear yourselves away from your fabulous retreat for a while, the local area is an adventurer’s delight, with no fewer than three state parks in easy distance.

Take a zipline canopy tour with nearby Tree Frog Canopy Tours, walk the Mohican Valley Trail and discover the awe-inspiring Bridge of Dreams, or head to Pleasant Hill Lake and Dam for swimming, boating, water-skiing – or just to sun yourself on the beach!

It’s no surprise that past guests have fallen utterly in love with The Mohicans. Now prepare yourselves to fall head over heels too!

What the guests of The Mohicans say

“I can’t say enough about how magical this place is. Our stay in the Nest treehouse was a like a dream come true. Everything is so detail oriented. The little touches the owners have added really make this a step above. All the stay anyone we met with was more than accommodating. I can’t wait to come back and stay in a bigger treehouse with my children. Thank you for making big kids dreams come true to stay in a treehouse in luxury style!”

“I have always been kind of an ordinary man, living an ordinary life. But, I am not complaining, it means nothing bad has happened either! One day I met the owner, Kevin, and the staff at The Mohicans by chance. That day literally changed my life. By fate we started chatting how the next day was my 8th anniversary and how I had wanted to propose. Kevin, with the help of Michelle and Aimee, went above and beyond to help me propose to my sweetheart the next day IN THE TREEHOUSE. They helped by getting all the little details together, even buying us chocolates and rose petals. Michelle distracted my girlfriend as Aimee helped me get ready. Everything went better than I could ever have hoped. (She said yes if you were wondering!) I am no longer an ordinary man. I am a man, who is engaged to an amazing woman thanks to the fabulous help of the staff at the Mohicans and the AMAZING treehouses.”
