Full description
An elliptical, architect-designed retreat, rich in nautical style and elevated on the entire flat roof of an old chapel to showcase magnificent views over the Sound of Mull.

One of Scotland's most blissfully remote locations, Drimnin lies on the north-eastern shore of the Sound of Mull, opposite the Isle of Mull's quaint capital, Tobermory.

A pure Highlands setting that thrives with nature, it's here that you might catch a rare glimpse of white tailed and golden eagles, Scottish wildcats, and playful dolphins. Not to mention, of course, mesmerising views over that glistening water.

All of this means your escape to Captain's Cabin, an elliptical retreat secluded on the entire flat roof of an old Drimnin chapel, will offer a soothing and sustainable remedy for your weary souls.

The brainchild of an sustainability-focused architect and a creative interior designer, you can expect the delightfully compact cabin to impress not only with its sleek exterior, but its light-filled, ship-shape interior, for a romantic break that's quite unlike any other.

Completely self-contained and separate from the chapel below (in which the housekeeper lives), the cabin features a stylish, nautical-themed living space, complete with soft leather chairs, ships' lanterns, upcycled accessories, and a glowing wood-burning stove. There's underfloor heating too, so your evenings will be perfectly toasty.

Lined with windows, there's also a huge skylight that means you can keep a keen eye on those beautiful views... in just about every direction!

You'll find the galley kitchen equipped with everything you need to whip up many a romantic supper, which you can savour at the dining table whilst seated in the most beautiful 100 year old wooden saloon chairs from a P&O liner.

When you've finished, why not pour yourselves a warming digestif and head outside to your private balcony, where you'll find two steamer chairs perfectly positioned for you to catch that blazing sunset?

When you're ready to turn in, just head through the porthole door to discover your cosy sleeping quarters, furnished with a downy kingsize bed and ‘old nautical chart' wallpaper.

Let the sound of the water help you drift off into a sound night's sleep, after which you can freshen up in the curved, modern shower room, complete with plenty of piping hot water.

If you're staying in, simply choose a book from the thoughtfully-stacked shelves, or take a seat at the comfy desk and start writing your own!

Prefer heading out to explore? Take a ferry across to Tobermory, visit the local distillery, or simply grab your binoculars and indulge in a spot of wildlife-watching.

However you choose to while away your time at Captain's Cabin, it's bound to be both beautiful and memorable.

Things to note

Check in after 5pm, check out by 11am. Well-behaved pets are permitted. There is no TV at the cabin.
