Purposefully designed to help romantic couples re-connect with the natural world – and each-other – the three unique Stargazing Cabins you’ll discover at Royal Oak Farm were hand-built with love.
Located in the Blackdown Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, friendly owners Paul and Poppy have seen to it that each locally-sourced timber cabin showcases the most beautiful views, in every direction!
They’ve also filled your off-grid haven with comforts and luxuries of the highest order, from the downy kingsize bed for long, lazy lie-ins, to the private, furnished deck that’s home to a reclaimed vintage bath (complete with instant hot running water!) so you can catch the sunset at its most breath-taking.
Each one enjoying its own idyllic location on the farm, the cabins are named after the many twinkling constellations that light up the dark Devon skies.
You’ll find Ursa nestled beneath the whispering oak trees, boasting views across the green fields… ideal for watching the visiting wild deer! Hidden by ancient oak and beech trees, Perseus is perfect for hare-spotting amongst the gently rustling grass.
Last but by no means least, Orion’s superb position, on a hill that overlooks a colourful wildflower meadow, provides a glorious look-out for pheasant and deer.
Whichever you choose, you can expect to be greeted by a blissfully relaxed, soft-toned space that feels deliciously cosy. Huge windows allow natural light to flood cheerfully inside, as you savour those amazing rural views from the comfort of your squishy sofa.

More information
(All three cabins boast a vast stargazing window, so you can watch for shooting stars to guide you into a dreamy night’s sleep).
Powered by cleverly-placed solar panels, luxurious facilities include an en-suite with a huge walk-in shower, and a well-equipped kitchenette… though the al fresco firepit is ideal for toasting marshmallows under the stars later on!
If you’d rather relax than cook, Paul and Poppy offer a wide, tempting range of feasts and treats to order for your stay, from delicious breakfasts and grazing platters, to firepit-ready meals and indulgent cheeses. If you’re celebrating a special occasion, cakes, bubbles, and flowers can also be waiting for you in your chosen cabin… just ask!
Oh, and how about taking advantage of a relaxing treatment with the resident Reiki Master, either on the deck of your cabin, or in a quiet spot on the farm? Plus new for summer 2022, guests can also choose from massages, facials or a spa package using 100% natural plant-based products and oils, to be enjoyed from the comfort of your cabin or privacy of your deck.
Of course, if you’d rather head out, there’s a wealth of wondrous walking and cycling trails to explore, along with wild swimming spots and watersports galore – Paul and Poppy are only too happy to help you narrow down the many options to choose from!
With the Jurassic Coast just 20 minutes away, you’re also superbly positioned to take in some of Devon’s finest attractions. Which is all well and good… but once you’ve settled in, we’ve got a feeling you’ll find your celestial cabin extremely difficult to leave.
Things to note
The cabins sleep 2 adult guests only. Regrettably, pets are not permitted. Strictly no smoking. The site is off-grid, so there are no 3 point plug sockets. USB to charge a phone only.
