A real treat waits for guests at the South Causey Feature Rooms - eight individually designed, wonderfully unique feature rooms, each one complete with its own private outdoor hot tub!
  • Sleeps: 2 per room
  • Bedrooms: 8 doubles
  • Bathrooms: 1 per room
  • Minimum stay: 1 night

The Feature Rooms are found at the South Causey Inn in beautiful County Durham, just 6 miles north of historic Durham and 6 miles south of vibrant Newcastle. Set in the wonderful Beamish Valley, it’s the perfect place to escape life’s hectic clutches and unwind amid cosy and rustic surroundings. What’s more, with a host of fabulous and unique double bedrooms to choose from, you and your partner can look forward to a romantic escape like no other!

After the warmest of welcomes on arrival, you’ll be shown to your fabulous lodgings. But which to choose? Luckily, there’s a room to suit every preference, whether you’re a history lover, a travel enthusiast or you simply appreciate amazing interior design.

First up, American Trilogy offers a taste of classic Americana without leaving Blighty. Quirky design features are found everywhere you look in this homage to red-white-and-blue, from the original car bumper over the bed, to the propeller attached to an overhead beam, even to a canoe! And as you relax on the stylish sofa, take a moment to admire the hand-painted table by local artist Ben Nightingale, complete with 50 white stars and a majestic bald eagle.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Tree House offers more natural surroundings – not least for the addition of a real tree in the centre of the room! Gorgeous hand-painted scenes on the ceilings leave you cocooned by Mother Nature, while the ingenious ‘shed bed’ (with a hidden TV in the roof!) is surely the most unusual bed you’ve ever slept in. Railway enthusiasts will also relish the rare and unusual memorabilia on display.

Or perhaps you’re after adventure in Captain Cook’s Cabin? Inspired by the escapades of the legendary British explorer, this room comes complete with ships’ wheels, an anchor, lobster pots and even a sail for a classic nautical theme. Get into character at the captain’s desk while marvelling at genuine artefacts from the Dunkirk landing – a historian’s dream.

History lovers can also whisk themselves away to Ancient Rome with a stay in Hadrian’s Villa! Roman touches in every direction will leave you feeling like a true Emperor, from the shields on the wall to the ornamental lions and busts around the room. Even better, you still benefit from all the luxuries of a 21st-century hotel room – the best of both worlds.

The Old Stable is the definition of cute and cosy. Furnished with vintage equine memorabilia, luxury leather sofas and original rustic beams, this room also includes its very own fully functioning kitchen providing the perfect home from home feeling.
