Full description
A fun family eco-glamping retreat with hand-made beds and wood-fired hot tubs, blissfully secluded within a private nature reserve surrounded by soothing North Devon woodland.

Just a mile away from the bustling North Devon port town of Bideford, Owl Valley Glamping feels like a magical sanctuary that's far removed from ‘normal' civilisation.

The perfect setting for switching off and relaxing in the countryside's welcoming embrace, you'll find the scenic valley site nestled in the midst of a private nature reserve.

Strewn with fresh flowers, peppered with joyous birdsong, and bordered by a trickling stream, you can savour enchanting woodland views as you reconnect with your loved ones... and yourself.

All you have to do is choose from four cosy forms of accommodation, each one boasting private, eco-friendly cooking and shower facilities.

Sleeping up to four guests, the Short-Eared Bell Tent is beautifully positioned on a platform at the bottom of the valley, right by the meandering stream. There's a handmade oak kingsize bed to curl up in, along with two comfy single fold-out mattresses.

Also secluded by the stream, Long-Eared Geodome features a transparent front panel for nature-watching... and a wood-fired hot tub for stargazing! Sleeping up to six guests, there's a handmade kingsize bed, two singles, and a small double sofa bed to aid a sound night's sleep.

Barn Owl Cabin, meanwhile, sleeps up to four guests. Charming and peaceful, the interior is decorated with soft lanterns and fairy lights, and there's a log-burner to tell bedtime stories around.  Outside awaits a wood-fired hot tub, and a small wood-burning chimenea to help al fresco relaxation along.

Lovingly handcrafted, Tawny Cabin sleeps up to five guests on a snuggly kingsize bed, two mezzanine futons, and a small double sofa bed. Curl up by the large log-burner, or unwind in your private hot tub, babbling stream close by. In fact, why not grab a log seat by the stream itself and light your firepit, easing into the peaceful night with a round of toasted marshmallows?

Feel like making some new friends? Sociable spaces include Steve's Shack, a recreational area complete with a log burner, games, candles, and additional cooking facilities.

You could also head up to ‘The Bus Stop'; a cob-and-stone Beaters Hut that's perfectly-placed for stargazing... or how about a singsong around the communal campfire, a sheltered spot in the site's old quarry?

(Oh, and if you've forgotten to bring supplies, don't worry - there's a small honesty shop on-site, stocking essentials including bread, milk, and eggs).

With every last holiday comfort covered, you're free to explore, immersing yourselves in North Devon delights that include Saunton Sands, a glorious stretch of sandy beach, or traversing the scenic Tarka Trail on two legs or two wheels.

(That is, if you can tear yourselves away from your new-found home at Owl Valley Glamping!)

Things to note

Check in between 3:30 - 10pm, check out by 10:30am. Regrettably, pets are not permitted due to the site being part of a nature reserve. Bell tent is seasonal (April to September), the rest of the pitches are open all year.

Tried and tested

"This is a magical place and a perfect retreat from a busy world. The exceptionally friendly helpful owners have got the ‘feel' of the place just right, it is rustic and rural, charming and unique. We stayed in barn owl cabin and loved it. Sitting in our own hot tub looking at the stars and listening to the owls in the woods was a highlight of my year. The kitchen area was well stocked with all we needed for cooking. The semi-outdoor shower was a delight, hot water but a view of tree tops and the sound of birds all around. There are lovely spaces around the site where you find hammocks in the trees or a old phone box full of things for children to learn about nature... all so well thought of and just striking the right balance with the nature all around, never overpowering it with too much man-made stuff! We definitely want to go back again!"

"Thank you so much for giving our daughter and her friends one of the most memorable days that they will talk about and remember for years to come. Chris and his family have been extra accommodating and helpful during our stay. We all felt welcomed and looked after. The girls didn't want to leave the campsite, because they were having too much fun exploring the beautiful grounds. The hot tub and games room were such an added bonus. We highly recommend Owl Valley and we will definitely visit again."

"I could not recommend this place highly enough. We had wonderful night stay, it was literally a slice of heaven. I would have lived there forever if I had the choice. It was so luxurious, whilst still keeping that glamping feeling. The owners had thought of everything, and were also incredibly friendly. We will 100% be returning as soon as we can. The hot tub and cabin were so clean and tastefully decorated. Everything you would possibly need was there. Thank you."
