Orchardleigh Boathouse is almost guaranteed to make you feel as though you and your loved one have spirited yourselves away to a calming and magical place.
Part of Somerset’s elegantly historic, 500-acre Orchardleigh Estate (itself a popular TV and film set), the Boathouse is blissfully secluded in a location that feels like a delicious secret. Nestled right on the edge of a shimmering, 35-acre lake, you can only access the stunning retreat via boat, or through a enchanting woodland path.
Better still, this is no ordinary boathouse. Expertly crafted from stone, its grand, pillared entrance sets an opulent scene as you arrive, and there are luxuries everywhere you care to look.
Statues and colourful foliage adorn the furnished lakefront terrace, which is also equipped with a jet hot tub (simply bring a bottle of Champagne for double the bubbles!), and the interiors are finely and comfortably decorated, rich in attention to detail.
The living area is softly romantic, with a glowing open fireplace to relax around by evening – what better way to spend a chilled evening with the one you love?
There’s also a state-of-the-art wet room, and a cosy, elegantly dressed bed waiting for you when it’s time to turn in.
Enjoy a light breakfast on your terrace, watching wildlife on the lake over fresh coffee. Then, why not stroll through the immaculate estate grounds, chatting the rest of the morning away? There is a beautiful church, a golf course, and the estate stables to visit, too, with the chance of taking a romantic carriage ride if you’re in the mood.
