Den by the Stream
Wales / Cardigan, Ceredigion
A charmingly hand-built cabin that's dog-friendly, off-grid, and set in an idyllic Welsh meadow corner, achingly close to historic Cardigan.
It's easy to feel that you've entered your own private paradise, as you make your way to the soothing meadow corner that's home to Den by the Stream.
Impossibly calm and outrageously lovely, the off-grid cabin-for-two is beautifully positioned by a rippling stream (hence the name) and surrounded by woodland and birdsong.
Put simply, you won't be able to stop yourselves from feeling utterly at peace!
Dog-friendly and secluded (there is no other accommodation on the site), you can sit back and enjoy your natural surroundings, from the eco-friendly comfort of your rural retreat. And with features like a harvested rainwater shower, solar lighting, and organic toiletries - not to mention no distracting TV or Wi-Fi - you can relax and reconnect without worrying about your carbon footprint.
That's not to say you'll be lacking in luxury. The spacious, light-filled cabin is well furnished and comfy with lots of carefully thought out little touches, and the wood-burner ensures the Den remains warm and cosy at any time of year. By day you can gaze out of the huge windows - revelling in that amazing scenery, whatever the weather. By night relax back on the rotating star-gazer bed and be awed by the star-filled sky.
There's a hand-crafted, fairylight-strewn four poster bed to curl up in at night, and a small-yet-perfectly-formed kitchen corner, stocked with everything you need (translation: you can pack light!) Oh, and you won't be making any midnight field dashes to the loo, since your bathroom is handily connected to the Den by a rustic barn door.
As if all that wasn't quite enough, you'll also be equipped with plenty of fluffy blankets, board games, puzzles and books to keep you company...
...though you might prefer to head outside to your stream, park yourself on a gorgeous hand-made bench, and just watch the birds for a little while. It's an ideal spot from which to greet the sunrise, as you charge your morning with a freshly brewed espresso. Later on, simply light the BBQ or firepit for a sizzling sunset supper on the veranda.
In the mood for a long afternoon walk? Let the dogs run free in the fenced three-and-a-half-acre meadow, as you saunter along without a care in the world
If you want to travel slightly further afield, you could take the mile-long walk into Cardigan, a historic town on the shimmering Teifi Estuary. Chat the day away over a pub lunch, take a boat trip around Cardigan Bay to do some dolphin-spotting, or simply roam part of the remarkable 870 mile Wales Coastal Path, set amidst breath-taking cliff top scenery.
However you spend your time, your soul is sure to yearn for the blissful comfort and slow-lane simplicity you've discovered at Den by the Stream... so don't stay away too long.
