Full description
Luxurious eco-havens with private facilities, secluded in a sheltered valley with a stream running through it, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park.

If you close your eyes and imagine a heavenly rural idyll, it's likely you'll picture the peaceful surrounds of Dartmoor Domes.

Comprising just four self-contained geodomes, the friendly family-run site couldn't be more beautifully positioned; in a secluded valley on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, peppered with whispering trees and a babbling stream.

Better still, each insulated dome combines all the beauty and delights of nature, with those essential luxuries that make a holiday truly special.

Not only can you snuggle up in a kingsize bed, topped with an award-winning Emma mattress, but you'll also have private kitchen and bathroom facilities (because who wants to queue for those when they're away?)

The domes also feature a stunning skylight, meaning your surroundings will be flooded with natural light by day, while by night you can drift off to sleep under a twinkling blanket of stars.

Changing seasonal temperatures won't be a problem either, since you'll have a soft-glowing wood-burning stove to snuggle around when needed, and a solar fan to keep you cool should the weather turn hot.

Which of the four domes to choose? Opt for the secluded Haytor or Hound Tor Domes if you're a romantic couple (Haytor Dome also accepts up to two well-behaved dogs, and both domes come complete with indulgent wood-fired hot tubs), while Great Staple Dome sleeps 4, and Sheepstor Dome up to 5, making both ideal for small families.

Whichever dome you pick, you'll have your own furnished al fresco area to relax in, listening to nothing but the gentle sounds of the stream, rustling trees, and birdsong... what bliss!

It could be tempting to do nothing but open up a good book and stay put all holiday long... well, why waste a single second of that glorious natureful ambience?

But if you do want to explore, there's plenty to enthral you in every direction, and you'll find friendly owners James and Em will be only too happy to point you in the best ones!

You could start with a ramble to Sheepstor, where you can look out over Burrator Reservoir, all the way down to Plymouth Sound - one of many local favourites. For energetic types, there's also the windswept coastal path to walk, and the Drakes trail to cycle.

South Devon's finest beaches are a mere half-hour drive away, while both Plymouth and Cornwall can be reached in 20 minutes.  Though if that sounds a little too far, there's a village pub just 10 minutes away... perfect for whiling away a few lazy afternoon hours, before heading back to your dome to welcome in the sunset.

Things to note

Access to the domes is by a 150m stepped path from the car park, across the woods and stream into the meadow, so please bring appropriate footwear. You will be assisted with your luggage, and a cart will provided during your stay. Regrettably, wheelchair access cannot be provided.
