Simply relax, surrounded by nature in one of three eco-friendly, off-grid cabins secluded in the unspoilt northern region of the Dordogne.
  • Sleeps: 2 or 2-4
  • Bedroom: 1 or 2
  • Bathroom: 1 per cabin
  • Minimum stay: 3 nights

The Périgord Vert region of the Dordogne is full of ancient history and natural wonder. If you remember those school French lessons, you’ll know that “vert” means “green”, and as soon as you arrive at your Covertcabin, set in the region’s National Park, you’ll see just how aptly named your lush surroundings happen to be!

There is certainly plenty to explore here, with the fresh, rolling landscape filled with everything from lush valleys and sparkling rivers to intriguing limestone caves and cliffs – not to mention winding footpaths that lead you to historic villages and authentic châteaux.

Featured in the Travel section of The Guardian, and blending perfectly with their beautiful surroundings, each of the three individually secluded homes you’ll find at Covertcabin is perfectly unique, yet you’ll find each is imbued with an identical blend of thoughtful comfort and natural luxury.

Refreshingly off-grid, you’ll need to leave the hair straighteners and the TV guide at home, but we’re pretty confident that you won’t miss them! Solar panels provide electric lighting, while a warming woodburner heats shower water – and you’ll even find a well-equipped kitchen area and a composting toilet inside.

Woodsman’s Cabin is a rustic hideaway for two, nestled on the edge of a wondrous wood and cleverly containing everything you’ll need to close the door on everyday life for a while.

A cosy first-floor bedroom overlooks the lake, while you’ll soon find plenty of opportunities to keep busy, from outdoor barbecues and bird-watching, to lazing in the hammock with a book or exploring your surroundings by boat! Inside, creative types will find plenty of art materials and musical instruments to get pleasingly to grips with.

Head down a nature track, past a 9th century château, and you’ll discover Fisherman’s Cabin perched on a granite rock – an ideal idyll for up to four people.

What the guests of Covertcabin say

“Such an amazing place, really just what we needed to recharge our batteries, Di & Bob couldn’t do enough for us and made it so welcoming. Loved our own little raft on our own little lake. So perfect.”
Greg and Kelly, Woodsman’s Cabin

“The perfect place to realise how little you really need to be perfectly happy. Nature all around you, just the enchanting song of birds, the leaves in the wind, the jumping of fish in the lake, we loved the homely feel of the cabin and were completely unwound after a couple of hours”
Bernard & Vincent, Fisherman’s Cabin

“The craftsmanship of the cabin is second to none and the quirky and well thought out details are what really sets it apart. We will be recommending this to anyone who will hear it!”
Laura & Brendan, Little Rock Cabin
